Anyone got an intravee AND a gaptech remote open fitted?

Yes, IIRC Bing has both fitted and working

I had both fitted and they both worked but my Gaptech developed a fault and Gary sent me a replacement but I haven't got around to reinstalling it yet

I did have in my E85...why you ask Ian?
Probably because they're both iBus devices and could, potentially, conflict over bus usage

im after either borrowing an uninstalled gaptech remote open unit, or if someone has both fitted, asking them nicely to record i/kbus messages whilst they activate the unit.

looking at creating a module myself that I can then offer to peeps here for a fraction of the cost offered by those companies...
I have achieved it with a Pi, but i want to see if I can work out how others do it so I can ensure i'm doing it right, before offering it to others (as an arduino package most likely)

If you tell me how to record I will test for you.

Always happy to beta test as well as I have a Pi.

tbh.. I dont know lol.. I haven't got an intravee, but have been told it can record ibus and kbus messages.. some how.. lol

I will see what I can find. I also have a nav coder which seems to output data as it does things.

I'm away over the weekend but will try tomorrow afternoon.

See, now this is making me wonder if my headlight problem is related to having both fitted... Because even disconnecting the intravee and the battery for 30mins didnt solve it :(

Steve can record my car if we can get together...

I was planning to get it refitted when I have time over the next couple of weekends (the warmer weather is a great motivator) but, if you don't get any joy with Steve, I'm sure we can work something out

I'd be quite surprised but easy to test by disconnecting both

All I-Bus messages are all directed messages (device/module/controller to device/module/controller) and have a header specifying the sending & receiving ID. The receiving control modules are supposed to ignore any packets not addressed to them.

For sending I-bus messages, I would expect the Intravee to use the ID of the CD changer, and the GapTech would probably use the ID of one of the relevant body control modules (it would also snoop the bus for the lock/unlock commands received from the remote control)

I would try fully disconnecting the gaptech mate...

I had one for 12months or so before it messed up.... And tripped an airbag warning light and my windows and wipers stopped working.

Took it to a garage who said it a short on my kbus... And they spent hours removing items one by one.... At which time i said try that gaptech..... £400 labour and 2 days later the car back to normal... Minus 1 gaptech.

This is true.. the only thing I'd say is that not all IBUS messages are direct.. there is quite a lot of messages that get sent to GLO (Global), but the LCM doesn't listen out for those afaik

however.. the GapTech does run on the KBUS, rather than the IBUS, so if it's causing some sort of headache on that line, who knows? lol
