Anyone got a boat? (:

Figured as the Zed is a bit of a toy and plenty have nice bikes too, any members with a nice Bayliner or Searay moored up anywhere? 8)

Got a bit interested in it recently & am booking the Powerboat course to get the ICC, with a view to maybe buy a bargain in the Med over the winter or maybe sooner depending on the euro.

Would love to see some boat pics, any sailors or powerboaters out there? 8)

ahhh bayliners! I used to own a 192.....used it for trips to the IOW and back, used to go to Bournemouth too and do some dough-nutting and water skiing. Was proper fun as weighed bugger all and had a 135hp mercruiser outboard on the back. Parents bought a fairline targa in their retirement....not agile enough for me...stick under 22 foot and you'll have a right bit of fun!

192 looks like a nice fun boat :D

most seem to have Mercruisers, would love diesels but that's proper money.

I'd like something a bit bigger as I love the idea of spending a few weeks on it.. I might be in for a rude awakening but some of the 4/6berth boats with shower & kitchen look like they'd be fairly practical, for the price of a second hand 5series.

Any pics of the Fairline? :D

yeah the diesels can be....thirsty :D

I think you can pick up some fantastic deals on the continent...as they're all even more skint than us.. ,

depends how much you want to spend...thats the problem with yachting and motorboating in general...the possibilities (and the costs) are endless. you could look at something such as a 10-15 year old sealine...something like an S28...saw one recently for just under 35k...but then you could also put a deposit on a house :poke: or even an s24 for about 25k...and they're pretty well appointed

Ill get onto the parents tomorrow for some pics of the targa....

My impression was the diesels were more frugal than the Mercruisers.. hence why all the newer boats have them, shame you can't use red diesel :(

But yes there's some cheap ones about.. I don't plan on spending anywhere near house-deposit money, I wish.. maybe £10k.

You can get quite a lot in spain for 20,000 euros tho :D

Ps, if anyone buys that now from seeing it here, I'll come & haunt you as I've been clicking on it & dreaming every day for about 3 weeks

Fuel consumption (approx) 16.0 G /hour At Cruising Speed
Cruising speed (approx) 24 knots
Max speed (approx) 40 knots

450L / (16*4.54) * 24 * 1.1515 = 171 miles for 600 euros of fuel..

Majorca to the mainland is about 150 miles so I guess that's the cost of the winter trip back to the cheap mooring..

Why is that boat so cheap? I thought they were in the hundreds of thousands ....

hands off :P

there's a few though, here, here & here.

I reckon as the Euro dives and people sell off their toys into the winter I could get a bargain .. there were a few Bayliner 3055's a bit newer which were 26-35,000e but they seem to have now sold.

Boating is not for me, but seriously cheap stuff there.

Do you have to pay tax on the purchase or is it registered nowhere as such?

Those are registered in spain so tax already paid. You can register a boat from anywhere back to the UK which can bypass local restrictions on the qualifications & MOT-style certification you need to sail local waters, but then a foreigner wouldn't buy it as to register it back they'd have to pay the tax again.

In Spanish waters in particular it seems as long as you're not there more than 6 months of the year the ICC is sufficient.
