Anyone good with plumbing?

I have a cold radiator on my upstairs landing

boiler is an ancient backboiler but has been maintained well and works fine for me just now

i turned all TRV's down on all radiators except the cold one, left heating on and checked, still cold even the pipe leading to rad

I turned the lockshield off, then turned lockshield full open

still nothing

any ideas, i really dont want to pay for a plumber if i can do myself

I have a couple of TRVs with sticky needles. With mine I take the top(knob) off the TRV (either by undoing the jubilee clip or depressing small catch - depends on type) and then gently easing the needle in and out. When hot water flowing again, I put the knob back on making sure it is in the open position.

yes i bled all the rads, don't know if its worth trying to empty a bucket full of water from rad?

@z4bob, i tried to pull my TRV off bud it doesnt seem like it wants to seperate

If you open the bleed nipple and water sprays out (catch it with a towel or rag), this means it has water in it and that it's under pressure. If, instead, you hear air hissing out, that's a good sign - just let it hiss until water comes out.

Are your valves both lock shield or one locks jailed one trv. Could be trv pin stuck or valve inside trv stuck on seating.
Don't pull pin up as you could pull it right out valve resulting in a wet mess.
As said above if water comes out bleed point then it's defo not air.
How handy are you?
You could shut both valves then disconnect and remove rad using old towels and a couple of bowels, take off pressure from rad after shutting off the valves then disconnect each side one at a time while plugging the rad end with an old rag then flip rad upside down and carry it outside containing rest of water in it.
Then pour it outside making sure both bits are clear.
Then get a bucket and open each valve into bucket, if one has loads of pressure it's ok if other is poor then it's faulty valve or blocked pipework to rad

turn off all rads except the cold 1, turn off the return valve rather than the TRV, water will take its easiest path so make sure all other rads are off

if you can get it to go through the cold rad then just slightly crack open the other radiators, its the return valve that will determine how much will flow through the rad

I did think of doing this at weekend

I bled it again and the radiator started heating slightly then cold again. I think the best option will be to remove and flush with a hose

How do I stop the water from trv side just turn it to off position obviously lockshshield side I just turn off easily
