Anyone from Chester?

Taking a weekend trip to Chester at the end of the month and will prob take a trip to Liverpool one day so wondered if there was anyone on here from Chester who could advise how long it takes between the 2 by car or if it's better taking the train and leaving the car at the B&B.

Two choices,first take the train from Chester if you don't have to drive,second if you have to drive to the station I would drive to Hooton Station were its cheap to park all day and get the train in to Liverpool.
 
Exiled Scouser here. 35-40 min M53 then Birkenhead Tunnel. Above is very sensible advice ie get the train. Not many places to park with peace of mind in the city centre. Liverpool 1 is good but stupidly expensive. Get the train :D
 
yep, I always get the train to liverpool. Takes us about 40 mins - same by car but no parking problems.

ps where's the b&b?, Hoole by any chance - thats where most are. easy walk into the city centre.

The B & B is on Brook Lane, looks to be between 2 stations, one just north (Bache)of Brook Lane and one in centre.
 
If you do take the car you can park outside the liver building on a weekend for free , there's loads of signs saying you'll be towed but you won't , they are only applicable for weekdays . My wife works there by the way , that's how we know , she has allocated parking outside . Liverpools best kept secret car park !
 
You're easy walking distance from the train station so that's definitely the best bet, and then you can sample a beer or two in Liverpool as well if the mood takes you.....

Train it is then. Oh how much is the fare return journey and how often do they run?
 
Ahhh I'd forgotten to mention that the train tunnel is shut at the moment. You have to get off at Birkenhead and there is a replacement bus that takes you through the road tunnel (Queens Way) It only takes 10 mins or so but is a bit of a minor inconvenience.

Only asking. Someone might frequent the train journey and be able to advise. Not knowing the area, best to find out as much as you can.

They should be re opened by the time he visits , supposedly end of next week .
