Anyone fitted a Brodit dash mount?

To a leather covered dash?

I just tried and couldn't get the gap wedges to open the gap up at all. I tried to open it up and slot in the clip, but ended up snapping the top of the clip!!

I'll have to try and get another but I don't hold up much hope of getting it fitted in there. It just doesn't seem to want to fit.

Anyone else had any joy?

try taking out the radio, then loosen 4 screws behing the radio, the dash will be that bit looser

thats if my memory is right

Great, thanks for that. Just what I was after. Thought there must be a trick. Shame they don't tell you that in the instructions! I'll do a search to see how the stereo comes out.
 
Stereo removal - easy peasy 30 seconds

Air vent removal (to facilitate above) - a couple days, lots of swearing, skinned knuckles, broken vents etc (well maybe not that bad but you get the idea)
 
you need to embrace the petach method to remove the vents.

If your not sure what that is just ask PVR.

Finally got round to doing this tonight. Can't believe it's been so long since I've driven (or even seen!) my car!!

DSL were great and sent me another bracket seeing as the instructions were lacking details regarding loosening the dash.

Anyway, I removed the vent easily. Don't know what all the fuss is about!! :D :P My girlfriend used two kitchen knives and pulled down the tabs, whilst I levered the vent out against the dashboard itself. It popped out easily in seconds. I then removed the stereo using the two bolts as described and removed the 4 screws holding the dashboard into place.

This gave me so much more movement in the dash and the Brodit mount slid into place easily. It's all in now and is very secure. No movement whatsoever in the actual bracket.

However, the actual iPhone holder that screws to the clip moves slightly. The reason for this is the screws are tiny, but the holes are really large, so there's movement side to side and up and down. Seems a bit naff. I may actually either drill the clip and nut and bolt it (if the space behind allows), or reuse the self tapping screws but also dap a little glue to the mount and clip to hold it more securely.

What do you reckon?
 
Best way to remove the air vents is slip an old credit card from the top edge towards the centre, both sides. That releases the clips and out it comes. Took me 30 seconds the first time I did it and would probably take 5 now :P

Yep, name of the song on my iPhone! 8) It scrolls across and gives artist and song name.

It's not telling me how to drive! :driving:

It gives you scrolling text on the Business display, and multi line text on the sat nav display.

The Parrot is cool though. You get to see more of the song name too, rather than a scrolling display. And you get Bluetooth. I didn't go for the Parrot as I already have Bluetooth in the car.

Cheap kit though, was about £110 delivered I think. Very easy to fit, just plug and play, I did it in the dark!
 
i have bluetooth so the dice would have been ok

the parrot does look good though with its colourful display
 
I got the Brodit kit from DSL developments. They're very helpful.

I got the Dice kit from a dealer on eBay.
