Now I must admit I'm not really an iPod type but I've got one in my zed. 30gb classic jobby with about 27 gig of proper 'rock' music on it I've also got the correct iPod lead from BMW. I've not got I drive but can control the iPod from the radio and steering wheel.

The trouble is I can only access about 1/3 of what is actually on there. Several albums just aren't listed through the radio even though theyre on the iPod and play perfectly.

Anyone any ideas if I'm doing something wrong?

Had a similar problem when I first got mine, it would play the same 20 or so tracks over and over when on random, took it back to the dealer who were completely mystified and couldn't diagnose the problem. In the end I just bought a USB flash drive and copied my music onto that and that works really well

Not sure if the E89 has the same problem that both the Alpine and Blaupunkt systems in my respective cars have. The Alpine can only see 511 of anything. Artists, Albums, Songs etc so once you're over that it doesn't see it. The answer I found after some help here, was to create a playlist for each album (I have 501 though!) and then a playlist for all singles etc. That allows the Alpine unit to see all the playlists and I get to play all my music

There's a natty shortcut in iTunes to allow you to create a playlist from all selected tracks, (ctrl-shift-n) No clue what it would be on a mac though.

HTH

Can't help with your problem, but I just wanted to say:

27GB of Rock music....

There's no logic to what's there and what isn't. For example it will play one greenday album (dookie) but not the rest yet they're all on the iPod. Being old school I play entire albums, don't do singles ( only ever bought 3 - against over 800 albums!)

Can't be messing creating playlists for that many albums, I just want to have as many of my albums in the car as possible and be able to access them as easily as possible

I may try a memory stick and see what that does.

Cracked it on both!

Late night geeing round the Internet.

iPod , all source files need to be in the same directory in iTunes. Mine were all over 3 hard drives. Memory stick needs to be formatted ntfs then fat 32 then music transferred in one go

Both work fine

Now, deep purple?, led zep?, who?, floyd?, or more modern oasis?, nickleback?, feeder"....... Decisions decisions

Great :)

One thing I don't miss from the 60/70s are those 20 minute drum solos on live albums. I can't recall if it is live in Europe or live in Japan by DP where I just had the bump the needle when playing the lp. Probably both. :x

Japan. Didn't do much for me either, only ones i listened to we're from Keith moon and Santana
