Sadly not - neither the weather nor I was up to it :(

I love seeing your car constantly driven though - keep it up  :driving:
Weather has been very frustrating - you not been well then Alan? :(
I'd lay money on it being alcohol-induced under-the-weatherness.... whisky flu perhaps...

Nothing so interesting, just a head & chest cold, low level misery. Perhaps some whisky can kill it

'3 in 1' medicine kept me well enough to manage a day at work in the past - hope you get well soon

Thanks Paul. A morning coaching in the pissing rain tomorrow isn't going to help... I'll get through it though. Work on Monday - woohoo !

Yes, I was up and out just after it got light, this was taken at Ditchling Beacon, one of the high points of the Sussex Downs - I stuck it on the Post your Zed picture of the day... thread but as this is a NYD-specific thread, it can do double-duty

The climb up to the Beacon from the Ditchling side is one of my favourite bits of road, short, twisty and steep - you climb 525ft in 1 road mile (a lot less as the crow flies).

That's a lovely picture.

That's my hometown Paul and a road well travelled by me....500 mile round trip but not a wildy exciting drive for most of the journey and can be heavily policed.
Was a wee bit snowy around Dalwhinnie but car ploughed on.......just knocked the cruise off for safety.
Roll on the better weather.

A 500 mile round trip - like me heading to Cambridge from Newcastle - long trip!

Heavily policed you say . . . hoping to do a few trips up there including the North 500 . . .any specifics?

Thanks Guys, maybe it'll go in the Jan comp then...

You should remember the road Bing, we did it on the Mostly West Sussex run last August...

I know we did that road, but I'm not sure I was looking at the view too hard

You'd have only seen that view through your rear-view mirror anyway - the road we climbed up is in front of and below the car, the half tree on the right of the car is at the top of the hill road

sorry for the delayed reply Paul

Regarding Traffic Police;A9 now seems to have less visible presence, probably due to average speed cameras from Dunblane to Inverness.I'm told the traffic cops operate from Dingwall and cover everywhere north and west.......have been known to lurk in some weird and wonderfull places and not just at mainstream times.A good friend of mine got caught on a Sunday evening around 9pm in Sept between Thurso & Dounreay.......resulted in a ban.I got stopped around midnight just south of Alness on a Sunday night.......marked vehicle but lurking well up a side road looking for cars "speeding" past in the dark........got the full check over, blow in the bag,3rd degree, etc but no offence comitted. In the better weather it's usually bikers they're after but can & will stop all vehicles exceeding the speed limits and turn up on all "speedy" routes.
Still plenty of enjoyment to be had travelling the routes around the highlands and the route from Ullapool to Durness is EPIC(off tourist season is best) Scenery & route north of Kyle and round by Gairloch also very good.
If you're ever staying over in the Fort William area then it's also worth the trip up to Mallaig and return by Ardnamurchan and Corran ferry................Glencoe to Oban
Oh dear....getting totally side-tracked..................you'll enjoy a trip anyhow.

Great to read the energetic tales of Zeds enjoying the freedom of the open road on New years day.

I had similar plans but alas food poisoning (Yes the Bl##dy Ham) had me on the white porcelain phone from 11pm untill 7am. I did take a shower and about 6:30, as I really did want to get out there, but another phone call to huuwee had me giving up and in bed till the next day.

Sympathy on a post card please to.

That Ex Scouser Cornish wimp:
Does bugger all but surf all day anyway:
The Not so Sunny West Country. :D

Yes was up and at Brooklands for 07.30 not roof down unfortunately as I was marshalling the massive new year day event . There were some lovely Zeds amongst the 1.500 cars on site .

Cheers Paul been out a few times in the Zed up to North Cornwall, catching some surf. Managed to do my shoulder in yesterday, I will never learn  I can confirm that the Zed is easier to drive with just your right arm than a Clio.

There's a bit of surfing done on Long Sands at Tynemouth up here, getting quite popular - there's a surfing shop and surfing café (plus a lot of wet suits for the cold!)
