I'm thinking about it but waiting to see what the sDrive40i is - should find out in the next few months. And even then I would only buy a demo car, so maybe in 8-12 months.

I don't think I could ever buy a brand new car, as you lose so much money? Or is that just me?

Simon

No its me as well! LOL

It was probably an excuse to hang on to her, but the thought of getting rid of my Zed after three years, having lost more than half its (new) purchase price, was just too much to bear!

tbh second hand 911 over new Z4

Couldnt agree more !....

911 is a nice car, but I couldn't put up with the service costs and looking at that 1980's interior every time I drove it! Also they are more common than a BMW 3 Series these days!!

Seriously, I can't believe what a great car the 35i is having owned mine for a while now.

  NO.

Tried it. As nice a car as it is to drive, it's not performance oriented enough. And if/when they shoehorn a bigger engine, the problem is still the same... too heavy.

No, the E89 is just an awesome boulevard cruiser... nothing more nothing less. I'd opt for an E Class Coupe for the same price instead.

Test-drove the E89. It's way too soft; the styling is cute though. Why are people comparing the E89 with the 911? One is a sports car, the other is a cruiser (a very good one at that).

The 911 is fine if all you want to do is drive around aimlessly. If you need to travel and that includes taking some luggage with you then it must be the Z4 all the way.

I think you're forgetting about the extra space behind the front seats in the 911.

E89? Wouldn't say never, but based on what I've read about it (and not test-driving one) I doubt it's my sort of car. I seem to favour the sporty end of the spectrum, i.e. I find the E85 perfect. But, until I test-drive one I wouldn't like to say a complete no. Certainly wouldn't be new, I'm quite happy for someone else to take the depreciation hit :D

And I'd put money on the 911 having more luggage space than the E89, taking the roof-folding space into consideration...

I think some would be surprised at the pace you can keep up on the road in the E89 compared to the old Z4, even the M! As a road package it is a big improvement! The only difference between it feeling less than a sports car is the interior and ride refinement! No interior rattles and no teeth jarring suspension! Yes it is a bit softer than the old Z4, but it actually holds a line around a fast bumpy B road corner very well, something my old Z4 took a lot of concentration to do!

As for that bi-turbo engine!! Masterpiece!

Think I will be keeping this one for a while! :)

I'm actually hearing this more and more, that regardless of the engines, comfort settings etc, it carries speed through corners so well that it's actually a very quick point to point car, even if you go for a lower engine.

I'm with Mike, I wanna know what a 40i is, +DCT +M Suspension & maybe quad exhausts, and it could be a great toy.
