Anyone else done a Millersoil oil check/analysis?

So I’ve just had a report back after I had my Inspection 1. Ross (RBM) took some oil out from me so I could do a heath check. They offer this for a variety of oils, engine, transmission, differential, etc, etc. See here https://www.millersoils.co.uk/oil-analysis/

Was wondering if anyone else has a engine oil report so that I can compare? Obviously happy to share my own as well.

Thanks in advance and happy Xmas

Nice one pal. I’ll post on there too, albeit they are different engines so that might change things slightly! Cheers

You can’t IMHO really compare one engine with another using oil analysis....

The great benefit is long term trend analysis on your own engine where you see wear limits being approached and then exceeded..

What you are looking is variance analysis...

What you see for example is copper going say...41,42,41,45.43,57,86,145 showing breakthrough to a copper bearing back or for say iron

54,55,53,56,78,156,456 showing a bearing falling..

That's true, but with only a single analysis done I'm not sure whether I'm looking at something that's perfectly normal... or something which I need to keep a close eye on/ take some preventative maintenance action. I'll speak to the analysis team to get some more info from them.

I know a few of the m guys do

Yep, had 2 done by them and due another in March.

Out of interest have you noticed any trends? (since you've got a few samples under your belt). Anything which shows increasing component wear?

Good point..it may spot a gross error ..when I used to do it I’d get over worried as something drifted out..quite clever for example I had an increase in silicon, turned out poorly seared air filter and ingesting a bit of dirt over time gave rise to a small increase in silicon..

If your car is a keeper and you use the same oil time n time again it’s a good move..

Of course cutting open the oil filter and opening the element and having a good look with a magnifying glass is a very good idea too
