One of my favourite roads ever is the Ring of Beara that runs through Bantry! Lovely roads. Everything takes forever to get to, but so nice! Especially early spring (April) time!
I did 2000 miles in 6 days around there just over a year ago. Really wanna go back!
Arghhhh !! I have done 2 southern Ireland trips. one in a Saab, the other in an MX5. Both times we stayed in Kinsale for a week in the middle of the trip. Fantastic scenery and very friendly people. Went into a small shop to buy fishing tackle....Turned out it was a pub...that also sold fishing equipment ! it would have been rude not to try the Guinness  Came staggering out into the sunshine a few hours later to be met by a screech of brakes and two mini buses pulled up , disgorging armed troops ! OH Sh*t what have I done. It was the armed guard for the money delivery to the bank.
Be careful if you do The Ring of Kerry. All the tourist busses go around in one direction. I went around in the opposite direction in the MX5. It seemed that there was a bus waiting around every blind bend with the aim of wiping me off the road! You have been Warned !!
Would do it again in a heartbeat.
