Anyone bulk-buying oil ahead of price increases?

 Mostly Holland. Sometimes UK.
I decided to order 20L more Castrol Edge 5W40M at current prices after warning emails from several online retailers over here in NL of impending price increases. Could be genuine, could be an opportunistic marketing ploy.
In any case it should keep me going for the next few services at least.
Any indications of price increases where you are?

I wonder if it will actually materialise....

i mean, given that fully synthetic oil is... you know, synthetic... will it go up in price that much?

on a related note, my dad said he was lucky enough to refill their central heating oil before prices went through the roof... when he bought it it was 61p a litre, so 1000 litres was £610. now oil is £1.50 a litre, so that same 1000 litres is now £900 more expensive. thats a worth while thing to stock up on, though not many people would have the capacity to store 1000 litres of oil...

I don't think it's as simple as that though.
The increases in crude and carbon-based oil/petroleum product prices due to availability risks will undoubtedly have a knock-on effect to synthetic products.
 
Like any kind of insurance. Usually cheaper to suck it and see, if you have the funds to underwrite possible future events. But if things keep going pear shaped you benefit for a time. :) :wink:
 
The way things are going I think you will need to stock up on anything and everything or what you feel is the most important in your everyday life, it's the knock on effects that's driving costs up.

Just hope rope isn't priced out of the market as hopefully some will be needed for Putin.

Better rush out and buy those bog-rolls before supply and demand hits and the price of a sh1t skyrockets!

Isn't buying stuff because "it might go up" the reason stocks run down therefore actually causing the price to rise?

Who cares, I'm alright jack, I got in before cos I was clever.
