Anyone bought a new lap top recently

We need to replace our old toshiba laptop..... want to replace it with a 15.6" screen 500 GB with HD screen and Blu-ray. We don't plat games just interntet surfing; photos and occasional for films.

I know very little interest in computers about as much as i have in my fridge provided it does what i want it to do .. i don't care how it does it...

Any thoughts....

That is quite a good spec but for your requirements you could go for an older chip and save some dosh.

I bought a Samsung R laptop 12 months ago and I'm really happy with the build quality/performance.

That looks like a good price too! You've done your homework

Yep I got a Samsung R522 about 6 months ago. Really good - well built, decent spec, looks good.

I'd too buy a macbook at that price. Although admittedly this doesn't have blu-ray but iTunes has HD films for download.

You couldn't buy a new Mac for that money, they start at £849 unfortunately. That is with a lower spec and no blu ray (not available at all).

New PC laptops are very cheep now, a Sony VIO is a good make. I've switched to Apple some 7 years ago and very happy with my MacBook Pro.

Seems abit over priced, i just stick to Dells now. Brought one for my parents, girlfriend and sister in the past year. All excellent spec and cheap as i went through the outlet store.
