Anyone bought a 2.0 cat?

Hi all, just browsing tinternet at cats -I cannot seem to find a site that sells them-the lowest engine they start at is 2.2

Interesting question - what is the volume of your average domestic cat ?

This sounds ominous, have you had a bad diagnosis on the warning light or just fretting? :|
Fretting

think about it, nobody stocks the 2.0 cat because there is no call for them, they don't go wrong. See it's fine

Anyone...

You still torturing yourself Andy? It's totally 100% different you have a 4 pot the 2.2 is six, I'd have a look at realOEM.com for part numbers etc. But surely better to get the light diagnosed? :whip:

2.0l four pot (part #1)

2.2 six pot

Spent a few hundred getting it diagnosed, even the stealers said we could put a cat on at £1000 but the light still may come on!

Did they check out the manifold? several 2.0 owners have had micro cracks which can cause lights to fire off. More 2.0 owners seem to have reported cracked manifolds or other leaks around that area than Cats.

I have had the manifold replaced, I guess the codes the stealers were reading did not point to a manifold problem, I just seem to be going round in circles with the fookin light!! :headbang:

Andy stop fretting about the damn light; the 2.0 litre engines and O2 sensors are just too damn sensitive for their own good.
Unless you can guarantee that the fuel you're sticking in is perfect (which you can't) then there's always the chance that a rogue fill-up will throw the sensors out of kilter.
The stealers love replacing O2 sensors as it's a good money earner as is manifolds and of course once the bits are replaced and the light cancelled everything is dandy in beemer central for a while until...the light blinks on again and another visit booked in.
If the car is running ok and you're the best judge of that, then just cancel the light and get on with enjoying the car.... :driving:

-Thanks mate-that's a slap around the chops I needed! :)
I know you are right, its just so annoying when it cannot be solved 100% I will just have to accept the fact that its a quirk of my 2.0

If you are still getting these codes after the cracked manifold was fixed its likely the leak gave bad 02 sensor misreadings, forcing over lean/rich fuelling which will damage a cat. If not already done change the 02 sensors, then try injection cleaner, then if the codes come back it's probably Cat time :(
