Anyone actually had a remap done?

I've had an S2K, followed by a remapped Audi TT and now just swapped to a 2004 3.0 Z4...so similar experience

my thoughts where:

Z4 felt much more powerful then the S2K due to significantly more torque (albeit similar BHP)....maybe your Z4 is sick?

Remapped TT though is a very different beast, mine felt much more powerful then either Z4 or S2K, as loads more torque and power even if heavier.

Thanks again for the replies. I contacted my local tuner and have it booked in. I told the guy my concerns and have once again been reassured that I need to part with no money until the map has been installed and the car been test driven. He seemed pretty confident he could impress me so watch this space....

I've had a couple of NASP cars chipped. The last one was a V8 Audi S4.

Increase was only 20-25bhp on top of 340bhp but it was noticeable and the characteristic change was worth it. As long as your car is healthy and its a reputable tuner I'd say you've got nothing to lose.

Thanks for the info sam1832. I'll start investigating a reputable and recommended purveyor of remapping in the North east or Edinburgh area.

i would have thought that a decent remap where they edit the fueling/ignition maps rather than swapping for another generic tweaked map would make the car feel better. i wouldn't expect much in the way of BHP gain without other work being done but i would expect it to maybe pick up better/improve dive-ability and have any flat spots or hesitations sorted.

i would also expect mpg to remain similar and any decrease seen would be due to the driver using the throttle more than before.

Regarding fuel economy, once the novelty wore off and I returned to driving normally the fuel economy on every car I've had remapped was improved.

i couldn't comment on the fuel as the only car Ive had any kind of tuning done on was my westy and som much was changed on the engine that its not really a comparison. it went from ~130bhp to ~180bhp. it was interesting to watch them and understand what they were doing tho.

mpg is ok ~30mpg when cruising which the standard mondeo it came from would have done.

Do you mean the sound generator mod? That's not the air intake. You don't want to be removing filters from the air intake. Apologies if I have misunderstood.

Map installed!

Well, for £250 I'm not unhappy. I was never expecting to get the same kick that my Remapped TT gave me but I am pleasantly surprised that within the first minute of the test run I could feel the extra torque. Official figures are that the car now runs at 246 BHP (only 15hp gain I know)

The test drive is based on the A roads close to where I live. I will give an update when I've had a chance to have a run on the M27 at the weekend.

Used this company for a 15bhp gain on my 2.5i. Not made a massive difference but did help to get rid of the flat spots, especially the pull in the lower rev range.

Not convinced on the whole 'feels quicker' placebo type effect. Sounds like the Vpower vs the Standard fuel argument, without torque graphs or similar maybe you just want to feel the difference because of the money spent? Not having a dig, just done the same with previous NA cars and always thought that actually afterwards when I think about could feel very little difference, if at all, by which time it's too late!

There definitely is a change for the better but I agree, there could be a portion of placebo in the mix too, It's strictly a weekend car so will go for a long run on Saturday with an open mind...

Torque figures listed are 341 from a starting point of 302 (Nm I assume??) I don't have a scanner at present but will upload the data when I have a chance.
