Anyone actually "filling up"?

Due to getting stuck in a traffic jam I had to do 11 miles to the nearest petrol station AFTER hitting 0 range.
Boy was I glad when I rolled onto the station forecourt :?

Live in a village so simples really that I fill up whenever I pass the Tesco or Sainsbury station in town with one of the cars. Use discount vouchers and ends up 10p/litre less overall than other stations.

Try not to get below 1/4 and always fill up as cost more the drive there and back than any weight related costs.

Tip - carry a nail or pop rivet and lock the pump on. Just hate standing there while Jag fills up with £100 worth of diesel.

Knowing my luck the nail/pop rivet would fall into the tank!

Difficult - as the nozzle is in the tank and the lock is on the back of the pump handle

Empty as possible then fill to brim then back to empty again - filling up very tedious so tend to do it as little as often!

I literally pass three garages thru town and two on the a1 to and from work every day (15 miles each way) so it's no hardship to chuck in half a tank when needed.
Tbh my biggest bugbear is the state of the forecourts, slathered in muck and corruption with a uniform quarter inch of diesel from entry to exit.

never let it drop below quarter put £30 in at a time unless I am doing loads of miles which wont happen as do about 1800 miles a year

Sorry for asking, i'm new to the forum and still trying to navigate my way about.
Ive just bought a 2007 3.0si coupe, what fuel is best? I usually use tesco 99 ron in my past cars but used tesco normal unleaded in my 2009 E85 2.0i roadster that i just traded in.

Nice engine upgrade from 2.0 to 3.0si coupe but wrong lid :P

Anyway search the 'which fuel' topics and you will find opinions from "don't bother with super", to "use nothing but the best". Truth is 95 ron works fine but 99/super will reduce any tendency for pinking, and may keep the system cleaner. I use the best on the pumps and always fill up because it's such a chore :)

Always fill up. Hate going to petrol station. Is it my imagination but she seems to drive better full.

The M goes like a scalded cat when the engine is warm and freshly filled with super... I'm not sure why as I believe octane doesn't drop off that quickly :driving:

I tend to brim it.

I usually fill up £20-25.

For everyday mid week use I dont do many miles, my place of work is about 2 miles away.

If I were to be careful I could get away with that a week, but it never works like that!

Do you actually fill your tanks, or just put a set amount in (25l/£25???) when your running low? And if so, any particular reason?
Just a wonderingment more than a survey really. I tend to half fill as I can't see the point of dragging around the extra weight, unless I know I'll be doing more than 200+ miles in one hit.

We always fill all the way up. Two main reasons: Saves time. I use fuelly to keep track of petrol consumption. The car's computer reads high.

Fill up when the light comes on usually. Or when the tank is higher and I know I will be doing a long trip that day and i happen to pass a petrol station (or happen to pass a shell v-power station if in the M).

Generally 1/4 tank then fill it up with Tesco Momentum - Might as well fill it up as its going to be used anyway!
