Anybody know the answer?

As it is mainly just me in the car, I had it programmed so just my door opens on the first press of the keyfob. Second press unlocks the boot and passenger door  why doesn't the boot release when I use the boot button on the key, it used to before I had the one door option programmed? Anybody else have this option set?

does the button in the car to open the boot still work?
I've changed a code and it no longer opens the boot...so I'll have to change the code back at some point.

Yep button inside still works fine, am thinking its a security thing so no one can hijack my boot before I take the three or four steps to get to the car. It isn't a problem cus the big blue button on the boot does the trick, I was just curious as to why it is how it is. :)

I didn't know you could program the key, how do you do it?

You need ncs expert for that, cable and software cost around £20 on ebay

I never knew the name of the software until you said that.
Literally just popped over to ebay and bought one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Inpa-Ediabas-interface-UK-USB-OBD-DIS-Inpa-NCS-Expert-SSS-GT1-/321176188676?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item4ac797b704

Have a thumbs up!

What else can be done with recoding?

I believe (although I may be wrong) you can do all of the following:

  • Three-flash quick indicator
  • Single door entry
  • total closure
  • "welcome home" lights
  • indicators / headlights flash when alarm tripped
  • automatic central locking after 2 mins if door not opened
  • roof open / close by holding key button
  • automatic seat positioning based on key used to unlock
  • touch open windows
  • radio speed-related volume
  • anti-hijack door locking
  • doors unlock automatically when engine stopped
  • fold electric mirrors when car locked

I believe you can also clear error codes for both the engine and the SRS modules.

and by no means is this an extensive list :)

Oh?

It is by no means as simple as it sounds. I think you'll be pretty lucky if you install the software and it all works!

It's really simple to install and you don't need to be IT technician to do that

Marius it is simple to install but it doesn't mean it will work! You seem to be the only person who is saying that the system is easy with many others buying the cable and software off eBay or BM Technic or A.N. Other source and using the "one-click" solution and in some cases getting no programmes to work to partial success. All you have to do is a Google search to find a lot of people having problems!

Can't comment on the 'one click' method being offered now but the earlier method was far from simple with 50+ pages of instructions to install NCS Expert, Inpa, SSS Progman etc. as it ran in a VM. :(
Worked first time though

It's as simple as it's sounds. I did that on three different laptops and never had trouble.
