When doing an emergency stop or hard breaking the hazards switch themselves on? Happened to me at the weekend after some numpties cut out in front of me at a junction. Brakes are superb by the way
Then I noticed my hazards were flashing and I had to press button on dash in to stop them

The brake lights also flash during hard braking.

I thought the hazards only flashed if it was a "real" emergency, i.e. the ones that generally cost money to fix...? :?

It nearly was 60-0 in seconds. Checked tyres etc for flat spots and they look fine. Really impressed with it

My '07 Golf GTI did this too (hazards did anyway not sure about brake lights). Think the brake light thingy is called adaptive brake lights??

Found this out after a week of ownership when a car reversed out of a laneway onto the road infront of me. A rural 60mph A road

Car stopped quicker than I thought it would

Didn't know about the flashing brake lights though.

Pretty sure by default 2 separate bulbs in each cluster (left and right) light up when you brake. On the E89, I think they pulse/flash under hard braking. Some other BMW's have additional bulbs for the emergency braking.

I think also the brakes are 'primed' if you quickly lift off the accelerator. Is this the adaptive braking bit?

I found this out during some spirited driving. Its a pain and something I'd like to be able to turn off for the times I'm 'having fun'...

X2

1st time this happened to me I thought that's weird, though when it happened again I did a bit of research and found out that its a safety feature, found out thanks to davidmbells post on e89.zpost.com, cheers m8

On the facelift E85 the rear fogs come on with heavy breaking.....

Was driving on the M1 with my mate behind and he noticed it when i was forced to brake heavily after some numpy drifted into my lane.

On a 2006 sept, z4mc you have a couple of extra lines of rear LEDs on the rear brakes, these light up with abs and are brighter than normal. Witnessed in person when at silverstone, this is the only other z4mc I have seen moving since getting mine over three years ago!!

Two fog lights do NOT illuminate as you only have one, the other cluster is blank.
