Any way to code out this stupid feature ?

Get out of car and open the boot .
Accidently or otherwise press the lock button on the fob.
Faff around in the boot for something that you need and absent mindedly put the keys in the boot.
Close the boot.

..... beep car locks . This is chuffing stupid 😡Is there any way to code it such that you cannot lock the car unless ALL doors/ boot are shut ? Ie it ignores the fob lock signal until they are all closed.

Don't know the solution. But I am with you on the daftness of it. I'm paranoid about locking the keys in the boot, as I often sit in it, to put on and remove my boots when out walking. My default now is to take the Zed key off my key ring and place it in the lock, when I do this. Bit off a faff, but reduces the risk. :)

Yup that's one solution. I thought of maybe getting a spare fob coded (even a complete key) and putting it in a box epoxied under the back bumper. A security comprimise I know but if you lock then in a couple of hundred miles fron the spares .......you are in for a large bill.

Hahah
I was taking pics of mine
Rare I know
But parked in middle if bridge over river, turned lights off as mist was coming down and looked cool
Closed door
Key in ignition
Car running
And it fing locked me out hahahahahah

4 cars either side inc police
Epic fail got dad to run me my spare key and the shame

Basically you want to code the car so if boot is unlocked or opened, the car unlocks the central locking. so even with the boot open and you press lock on the key fob then shut the boot it won’t lock the doors. I’ll have a look into that

I haven't done it with my Z4 (yet) but I did lock my key in the boot of my E46 Compact.

Luckily I was at home so could go and get the spare. :)

Should just put the side window in, surprised the cops didn't

Definitely codable my boot won't open unless the car is unlocked

+1
(which can also be annoying - but safer I guess)

I've just read the OP again, he said he pressed the lock button again after the boot/car was opened, then shut the boot
I'll try it on mine in the safety of the drive and let you know :)

You are also in for a large bill to buy a spare fob. My zed only came with one key/fob when I bought it, and I paid about 250.00 CAD for a spare. My M6 also came with only one key/fob and the cost of another copy is almost 700.00 CAD including programming and sales tax. I will just guard my only key with my life. It stays in my pocket and has never even been plugged into the ignition slot or door or boot locks. Even the valet key (also missing) will cost me 125.00 CAD plus taxes, and will not be able to start the car !
