Any reason not to go for rainsport 3?

I've read conflicting reports online; some say no change, some say it will invalidate insurance as it is classed as making it un-roadworthy??
I would ring directline but have also heard they keep a record of any calls like this and adjust your premium higher next year..boy am i confused.

I rang DirectLine and asked the question - answer was "Should be OK, but we would need to be informed of the change and would treat it as a modification."
So, make what you will of that. :)

May have to put of the wheels to next week as just realised my MOT expired two weeks ago so need to get that sorted end of the week.

Their stance IMO will always be to wriggle out of a claim, should there be one.
 
The only complaint i have is wear rate, I've done just over 11,000 miles and the rears have under 2mm left before hitting the wear marker. My brothers TT 3.2 on Ultrac Vorti's are at a similar level but he has managed 23,000 miles out of his tyres, he rags his car alot more often than i do mine.
 
the wear rate was a slight concern but I guess that's the price you have to pay for the improved grip and the lower price point.

As for insurers I totally agree, they are more than happy to take our money and increase our premiums but incredibly reluctant to give it back when it's due. :thumbsdown:

I'll probably have the wheel alignment done at the same time as the new tyres due to changing up in size etc, the place I normally go to have invested in two hunter setups so will be interesting to see how it comes out of that.

Depends on drive type as well. Had 104's on over the winter months while roads were at their shi*tiest. Running BM spec Potenza tyres. Must have done around 8k on them and they only wore down two mm or so (pretty evenly on front and rear). But then most of my driving is motorway. 75:25 motorway to twisties/town ratio. So may play a part in getting more miles out of the tyres...
 
All B roads, I don't think the price of the RS3's quite stack up for me, will look at spending a bit more and getting alot better wear rate.
 
He got some miles out of them then!

I'm on some half decent Pirelli's atm. Much better than Bridgestone runflats. After these wear out I'm considering RS3's but we'll see where I end up when the time comes :)
 
I had the RS3 tyres fitted today by kingswinford tyres. They did a brilliant job and even came to my home to fit them. Not bad at all for only £40 more than i could have bought only the tyres from camskill and then i would have had the trouble of finding somewhere to fit them and struggled to get 4 wheels and 4 tyres in a Z4 to get there.
K'ford tyres get a thumbs up from me :thumbsup:

My Vred Ultrac vortis also lasted 22,000 miles plus on the rears,. I'm a spirited driver.

Vreds vortis all the way. l put my new vreds on the rears last month.
 
I'm considering ditching the RF on my coupe, but can't decide whether to upgrade to 19" CLS's.
My wife has Uniroyal RS3's on her Golf tdi and to be honest I can't fault them at all. So if I do change I will probably go for the RS3's.
My local branch of Mr Tyre also recommended them and for around £360 , great value!

Did you go for the 245/40 on the rear or stick to the OEM size?
 
I'm just changing to these from my Bridgestone so will be interesting to see how I get on with them. Mine are 19's though.
