Well I suspect that it may be DW6 which if it is would be my prime suspect.

so am i right i thinking that a new cable might have to be fitted?

Just out of interest have you noticed if the crackling got better when it rained ? I know its a strange question but if the dw has gone hr the water can get in the gap and act as a conductor until it dries out..just a thought.. that is if its a dw 6 which we havent ascertained yet

yeah its completely dead! not a thing! and we didn't notice any real change, as we haven't had any wet weather! its so strange! came home on Wednesday and it was working all night till about 11pm then just went off and NDT. it was a very windy night though so unsure if thats made it worse?

I dont know, but that looks like its not secured to the wall very well, which surely means in the wind it moves, and could cause the connections to work loose?

Well it looks like you have a span of dw 10 joined to a lead in of dw 6 and the earlier pictures showed the Socket connected to dw 10 so there must be further joint somewhere

Have a look at the cable between the joint box on the wall and the NTE 5 and see if you can see any rusty marks esp round clips attaching it to the wall
