Any Opticians on here?

Just been into a local opticians to get my wifes sunglasses updated with new lenses to her current prescription. They did her last prescription and she has always bought glasses from them. I was told they couldn't do it as they needed to measure her PD by law so they must see her. I'm no optician or even biologist but I don't believe the PD changes much, if at all so they would have that measurement already.

Does anyone know of this alleged EU law?

Andi.

Don't know, but at my recent eye test and contact lens check up they tried so hard to sell me new glasses even though I only wear them occasionally.

Talk about hard sell.

They said my current glasses are wearing out! Wtf does that mean?

I think it's a reason to turn the special printer on and print some money!!!

Try this

PD is the distance between the centre of one pupil to the centre of the other pupil. Prescription glasses are made so that the distance between the optical centres of the glasses' lenses, is the same as your PD. PD varies from person to person but once you are an adult, your PD does not change. Therefore, as an adult, if you have had it measured, then it will still be the same, even if your spectacle prescription has changed. Once you know your PD, you do not need to measure it every time you buy prescription glasses.

it means you've been looking through them too much. try blinking more often or closing your eyes every 3rd minute to cut down how much light you make go through them.

Thanks guys I'm sort of tempted to go back in a tell them but I'm not sure I could be bothered, there are more eggs in the sea ... eh!?

on a more serious note i only need glasses if my eyes start straining. my vision is sort of ok for all things but not 20:20. best way to descibe it is like going HD. i went to a couple of places and they were a bit vague. the best service i got was from costco. and then i used this to get some from specsavers
