Any of you UK guys watch Topgear last night?

The one with them driving across central America in the old 4x4's. I have to say it's probably one of the best TG's I've seen. The bit where Clarkson was on the edge of the drop and the other 4x4 was trying to squeeze by, that was hair raising. Normally I'm envious but this time round I was quite happy just sat in the comfort of my home watching!!! :)

Excellent indeed, and if my wife watched me drive there I think she would have cashed in the return ticket and sold my car at home :D

Brilliant show! I love the ones where they go abroad - Korea was great, Polar Challenge breathtaking, Namibia (I think)... OLIVER! And to a lesser extent the European supercar trip to find the best driving road.

Needless to say my pea like "monkey-see-monkey-do" brain now wants an old 4x4 :?

BBC = frickin' brilliant :thumbsup:

It was just insane all round, the bit where they are 17,000 feet up and can't breathe and are taking viagras pills to stop themselves getting enemas.

Who would have ever thought a beaten up old Range Rover could actually do all that extreme stuff. Also Hammonds car, no clutch, prop shaft dropping off etc.

Also the bit where James May is seriously pee'd off with Clarkson for hitting him from behind and decides to try and kill him with his machete, priceless TV!!!

Although they 'forgot' to mention that the 'road of death' is no longer the only route across the most dangerous parts of that mountain range - there are two recent bypasses that are much better where cars/trucks can pass at speed - although they do add some distance and do not necessarily mean you can miss out all of the 'road of death' if you need to go from one end to the other.

I've skied at 16,000ft, so I don't know why they were so knackered at 17,000ft considering they were just driving and not having to put much physical effort into it.You also get to see the support vehicles in a few shots and you've got to think they'd have the same trouble or not?

I'd still love to do it though - maybe on a motorbike though - except for that last bit which would have to be on a snowboard.

Awesome programme and as someone who has done more that their fair share of long distance expeditions in beaten up 4x4's then it had me watching very enviously. Hammonds truck was very close to one of mine and frankly you'd be amazed how much you can do to a 4x4 before it stops rolling.

Lot of stuff for the sake of the camera (like the big wheels without regearing), but great entertainment

I watched it on Sunday and again on Monday (anybody else annoyed at the sheer number of repeats this season :o )

Thought it was one of the best shows they have done for a while

Even the wife watched it and wet herself laughing, so it must have been good for her to raise a smile. Seeing the hamster almost crying because he was affraid of the bugs was to me the best bit.

Glad you guys enjoyed it too. It has to be one of the most entertaining shows they've come up with to date.

Episode was fantastic, proper TG again! Genuine car related adventure, perfect. It's really got me into the idea of the South American run though...what a trip. That slope at the end was stunning.

WLH, you can always download it from Final Gear... :P

I'll add to that and say it's amazing what you can do to any car sometimes...We drove this to Mongolia (via Iran) in 4 weeks and the only things that went wrong were a blown MAF sensor and a split in the exhaust.

one of the best entertainment programs on over the xmas period I think there are loads of staged stuff like the edge of the cliff and the alltitude sikness but it all adds to the program top marks for top gear

Even though most of it was staged it did make me chuckle i loved the bit when James May tried to board the raft and fell flat on his face but the Vietnam special i thought was much better that made me laugh a lot more.

Am I the only one who thinks that Messrs C, H and M were having a big laugh, watching from their hotel room whilst their stunt doubles completed all the tasks?

I too thought it was garbage.
