hello, first post here :D

some of you might recognise me from ph and such like.

Currently driving a white R26 but looking to upgrade to a Z4mc

this one has caught my eye, any info or views on it?

Thanks

Hi, and welcome.

Looks nice, I particularly like the colour combo. Doubt it's still within BMW warranty being a 56 plate, which might put some off. Otherwise, all the usual checks apply - including making sure it's had the running in check (which to be fair, is alluded to in the text as the 1000 mile service.

Let us know how you get on.

No nav = 80% reduction in resale potential.

We've heard all the excuses of "the nav is rubbish anyway", "it looks better without it", "one more thing to go wrong" etc etc, (most of which I agree with). But the market usually wants nav.

Welcome, from another PHer.

No nav, no bluetooth & no heated seats. Heated seats matters less on the coupe though to be fair, although having owned a 330d with leather and no heated seats through a winter I would disagree personally!

I rang about it when looking; car doesnt have the stereo upgrade or heated seats, which were a must-have for me, I wasn't bothered about Nav but what others have said about reselling a car without it is true.

Its been for sale for a while and I paid less than that for a 08 plate car with better spec, 12 months warranty remaining and similar miles a couple of weeks ago.

At that mileage it will likely require a couple of rear tyres in about 3k too.

Welcome. I'd agree with those saying it's a little overpriced for an 06 without all the toys. The mileage on these cars is often lower than 20k so it's not such an unusual selling point. I'd rather have a fully specced car with 20k on it personally.

No mention of the service history, would nice to know if it's been done annually or only every had one. Also it's only got parking sensors, electric folding mirrors and 6CD - no other options so a very 'low' spec for a Z4M. Nice colour and mileage but as much as it pains me to say it, not a £23k car...

For your info, main options to look out for...:

Nav
HiFi Speaker Upgrade or Carver / Logic 7 Upgrade
Bluetooth
Heated Seats
6CD
Parking Sensors (Rear)

There is also the Storage Pack (cup holders, luggage net), Extended Leather, Piano trim etc but the above are the main ones. I'd consider Nav and Bluetooth essential, everything else optional. I don't have rear parking sensors (you get used to it and the bumper looks far cleaner) but I don't think i've seen another without them!

what about if it had been reduced?

Hi sidekick,

Have you driven a Z4MC yet? Just wondering as I am currently contemplating downgrading from mine and wondered how you found it compared to the R26? It's one of the cars on my 'maybe' list.

That car makes more sense at £20,995, the low mileage is nice but it's still missing all 3 of the main options (Nav, Hifi, Bluetooth) ... but then I doubt your R26 would have these anyhow so it might not matter to you if you want the car just for 'driving'.

Cheers

the r26 is a great car, so easy to drive quick and is better than any of the other hot hatches.

i have had two now, a liquid yellow and a glacier white. the fact i brought a second one must say something.

dont fancy doing a stright swap for your z4mc then?

A swap would be ideal, although not a straight swap ;-) I owe a fair chunk to BMW Finance though so I don't think it would be simple to arrange, shame.

agreed with that, if u use a car with leather in the winter heated seats are a must! thats what making it difficult for me finding suitable replacement cars, lots don't have heated seats... and no no for me i'm afraid

got my Z4MR 18 months ago for about same price and bar TV & cruise options its got everything else.

this irrespective of miles is overpriced. I would quiz seller on that 9000 mile service if it is an 06 - why? need to understand its history more closely.

9000 mile service if its an 06? dont get you, i would take it its 2yrs old when its had it done and not hit the mileage limit instead, its then only done 2k in 18 months or so?

Mine had an oil service at about 9,800 as that's when the BMW dealer bought it and then sold it to me - although it was only 2 weeks away from it's 2nd birthday too.

Really? I can't believe you'd turn down a perfectly good car because it doesn't have heated seats. The GF's 1 series has them and even set to "1" they get too hot - i couldn't imagine setting them to "3".

In a roadster I'd say they are a nice to have, in a coupe they are unnecessary in my opinion. Nice, but unnecessary.

absolutely, i've turned down numerous cars because they didn't have heated seats in fact.. couldn't be without them!
