Any Motorbike experts/techs in Peterborough?

I found a custom BMW bike for sale in Peterborough, it's been made from a K100, and I know little about non jap bikes or anything pre-90s, Im interested in it but am worried about build quality and safety as who knows how well it's built and the last thing I want is to be riding it and the forks disattatch from the frame! Are there any bike builders/experts in or near Peterborough who would go and check it out for me and give it a good examination regarding safety and how it runs? Would save me doing a 150 mile round trip if it's a load of crap.
i'd pay for your time and fuel of course. TIA.

tyhe k100 engine is a peach, known for 100 thousand miles plus with zero issues, it was also the police endine of choice for many years as its smooth power delivery,
depending whats been done to it, and what exactly custom means, then i cant think of a reason not to have a look at it.

bear in mind, that the k series bikes are at the low range of the bmw bike price, only because they arnt a favorable choice for most, they still do well and hold value,

got any links to the bike in question?

I have had two K100s well built reliable were used seven days a week shaft needs greasing every 12,000 miles and timing chain and guide every 80.000 other than that faultless

But that looks a bit like Darryl Dixons and quite cool :thumbsup:
You might want to get a seat for it though.

I thought it was quite cool, K100s are quite popular to build cafe racers now but not seen one like that, very mad max. Did notice the seat, or lack of! There are several nice K100/75 cafe racers about, very classic looking but nothing like this.
 
that is going to make your ears bleed with those open pipes..odds on you won't want to ride it for more than 30 minutes, problem with these types of bikes ( and ive had more than my fair share of them) is they are a huge compromise of aesthetics over comfort and you invariably get pissed off with them rather quickly imho...it looks pretty cool tho :D
 
Thanks for that mr.tourette, have no experience with anyting on 2 wheels with straight (or no) pipes. I've already had some rather uncomfortable bikes, it wouldn't be for long journeys as I have the zed for that.
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's cool, would probably have to put some sort of silencer on it though.
