Any more news on the z2 yet?

From the 1st Jan 2011 to Sept 2011 BMW sold 15,627 E89's worldwide a fall of 24% on the same period in 2010. The worst performing model by a big margin (next worse was the X6 at -9% - facelift recently revealed in press).

During the same period Porsche sold 9,421 'Boxster series' vehicles split 5,631 Boxsters and 3,790 Caymans (down 0.9%).

When you consider that a) the entry level Boxster costs £36,572 and Cayman (39,162) versus the E89 of £29,480 and that it is in the last year of its lifecyle not mid-way through, then i think you can say that the Porsche is proving the better performer.

Interestingly more than half of Porsche's sales are Cayenne's and the Panamera is second. Just shows you how they have used new markets to expand rapidly.

As a footnote I should add that I really like the E89 - it's beautifully built, looks great BUT it isn't a sports car and at this price point and this demographic I think that's a misjudgement. It should've been at least 200kg lighter, with a fabric roof and there absolutely should be an M model not some pretender like the 35iS was/is. Crikey it's supposed to be BMW's most sporting car and there is no M?

I wouldnt go for a Z2, too small for my height unfortunately since I am 6'2. I would need to roll out the car if I wanted to get out. I also hate soft tops as well.

Z4 E89 is a beautifully crafted car and I would like to see how the current 2.0i and 2.8i perk up the range. It offers everything that the market requires at the moment, better tax, fuel efficiency, etc.
