Any ideas on how to remove aerial?

AAAAARRRRGH!!! What a bloody evening!
I left work early to get to BMW in time to pick up the new aerial base that I ordered. I picked it up, rushed home and got my T25 screwdriver out and then realised that it was too long to fit under the unit, so I got a range of allen keys out to see if that would work, but no luck. I then searched the net for shorter T25 screwdrivers and found that my local Halfords had them in stock and I had 30 mins to get there before they closed. I jumped in to the zed, floored it to Halfords, got there 15 mins early and they had closed!! I then rushed to Homebase who were open, I got out of the car and then found that I forgot my wallet. Rushed back home, then back to homebase. Bought the screwdriver, went home, unscrewed the old base, got the new one out and oh look... the stubby doesn't fit!!
Now I need to find the screw attachment for the stubby that's in between the small one and the large one.. but I can't find it. I'll ask on here if anyone has one, but to be honest I'm guessing if anyone does then they'd actually be using it on their own car! Might have to buy a new stubby.

Thread resurrection time! Another stubby fan with base disaster here, so far I've shorn off the original whip, bought a wrong size base replacement and still can't figure out how to remove the old base as there's a nasty plastic nut in my way that wont shift. Dear God, I'm seriously thinking of deleting the whole thing when it finally comes out.

Mine has just sheared off too. It means a new base... The old one can be accessed from the inside of the boot by unscrewing the radio module (1 screw) , then unlocking the base. It just twists loose from inside the boot. Then fit new piece and reinstall.
I had the same issue of a snapped off Arian when I bought my car. It's a bit of a faff getting the old base off but I found a combination of a flexible shaft on screwdriver and a 1/4 dive ratchet with short extension bar worked well. It's a lesson in patience and working blind as you can easily see the t25 bolt. Saying that the new stubby looks superb so glad I made the decision to fit it.

just got one of these from BMW, £28 inc postage, fits perfectly and comes with another thread piece,a bit overpriced maybe but its a genuine part.
sorry about upside down photos,could not get them to rotate for some reason.
