Any Exhaust?

Who's going to be the E89 guinea?

Mike have you done an E89 35i before? I'm tempted to try it, dependent on cost.

No, but the principle is the same for any exhaust. The 35i has twin boxes, with one pipe to each. So the additional work would be basically another box to remove, open, mod, weld up and refit. Time wise, I reckon another 4 hours in total. Cost wise, I reckon £475 for both boxes removed, modded and refitted. It would be an all day job though.

OK, where are you based?

The main reason I'm in two minds about this is because Ideally I want a quad-tailpipe (ie. twin on each side), which I doubt is even possible with the standard back-box.... and even if it were, it's probably cheaper for me to look into after-market options I suspect?

As long as I can keep the sporty (and slightly raspy) sound with the up-shift pops, but not have any drone on motorways, then I will be a happy bunny :thumbsup:

Re the quad pipes, I think you'd need either a new bumper or some mods to your own. I think it would be difficult to make your existing box's into quads due to the vacuum valve on the exit pipe of the O/S box. My mod would retain the valve.

I can't guarantee any performance increase, but I can guarantee you'll love the sound!

Just seen that Eisenmann do a quad setup for the 35i...

€2,113 :cry:

Haha, yes, thanks Mike :-)

I'd already checked that out and spoken to a UK distributor. As much as I love the look and the sound (checked it out on YouTube), it's just not worth the money IMO. I'm sure you agree!

As for the mods to my rear bumper, I see these CF rear diffusers are readily available. Of course the quality may be questionable as they are moulded in China I believe, but I just bought a CF rear lip spoiler from China on eBay and it's excellent quality and a perfect fit.

I presume just some cutting of my OEM bumper is required to fit it. If I can find the right quad exit pipe option then I'd be willing to just buy one and make it up as I go along! I'm sure fitting that diffuser can't be too hard! 8)

I didn't realise that the diffuser is a separate part. In that case. There's no reason I couldn't fit some sort of "one to two" tailpipe direct to the box's as part of the mod.

Something like this, cut down and welded to the existing, but also cut down tailpipe?

Or something like this cut down and welded on?

I like the ones in the picture! The eBay ones I'm not a fan of though.

Be interested in what you'd charge to do both rear boxes and the quad conversion Mike.

These are the ones in the pic, but apparently, they don't ship to the UK :( Shame as they are about £60 for the set;

If you could find tips that you are happy with, then probably another £60 on top to fit them, do you know how wide the "gap" in the diffuser is currently? Those in the pic are 178mm wide..

Just seen these;

As well as the "width" of the opening in the bumper, the current "length" of the existing tip back to the box would be helpful too.

Mike

Thanks Mike.

I'm not sure what the width of the gap is in the CF diffuser but as I know that whatever option/supplier I go for I do definitely want quad, I'm thinking I might just have to take the plunge and buy one :| Then I can measure it when it arrives.

The existing length is an easy one obviously so I'll go grab that for you today :)

I quite like those X1 tips you just found on eBay. I'm guessing all SS tips are T304?

Yes, they'll all be T304 I would guess. I'd go for one's with polished stainless tips rather than slip on chrome covers as those always eventually get pitted, whereas the stainless can be kept looking good. The tips on those X1 ones are stainless and not chromed, I asked him the question and he said it's all stainless.
