Any ex-TTers ? Car not the race .

Thanks Dan , It is a lot for little , , just found a bill of sale from the last owners purchase , , £18450 in July 2007
I make that £2500 a year depreciation
That,s good news for me & as long as it behaves we will get along fine

Jesus that's a lot of depreciation. Sounds a great little car.

I remember my mate buying his z3 m sport and also looking at a 225 tt. Both would have been brand new. He thought the 225 was a bit sluggish compared to the 3.0 z3 but thought the interior was streets ahead in the tt

What's the fuel consumption like in the 3.2v6? I loved the v6 barbel in my mondeo

Bargain at that price, they were always slated as just being a Golf in drag but I would have one these over the Golf any day, just a nicer looking car alround :)

Tim.

Hi, Ive had my 1.8T TT for nearly nine years now and had the instrument panel changed by Audi foc. If they begin to fail Audi will change them if they show signs of failing, think from 2005 the problem was rectified.
Other than that, i have a brilliant car, and thats why i still have it, and as someone says above, the interior feels more solid than the Z4, but love both cars for different reasons :D

ive had 2...a mk1 TTs then a Mk2 TTS, loved them both.... great everyday cars but definitely not sports vehicles.... just moderately quick coupes... looked lovely and always grabbed attention.... servicing was expensive imo for what the cars were.... The DSG TTs was actually quite nice, i was disappointed when i let it go.... wish id have kept it as a DD.. it became unpractical being a lone parent with a 2.5 year old....

I had a Mk I 225 coupe and it was the most unreliable car I've ever owned - even more so than old student cars that cost only a few hundred pounds. The dash pod failed and was replaced by Audi for free, but the cost of the other repairs over my ownership totalled more than the purchase price of the car (thankfully most repairs were covered by the warranty). I've spoken to lots of other people who've owned them and sadly my experience is far from uncommon. Mine was not driven especially hard as it was my daily driver for several years (when it was running), it was unmodified and I didnt ever take it on the track. In fact, I think tracking it would have been a pretty unpleasant experience - although it was quick in a straight line, it was terrified of corners! The DSC would kick in with minimal provocation and it was impossible to switch off completely. Any attempt to combat the inherent understeer with power was futile as it was predominantly FWD, and lift off oversteer was met with the car applying the brakes :headbang: Speaking of which, the brakes were bloody useless and became even more so when hot! I did enjoy the torque at motorway speeds though, and the interior was of far higher quality than my Z4 - as I've said before, it was a rather lovely place to wait for the RAC truck :D
All of that said, mine was a fairly early car, so maybe they fixed all of the reliability issues and I'm sure the handling and brakes could be improved relatively easily. I wish my experience had been better as I did like it despite its faults. Had it been the car it should have been, it would make a cracking, inexpensive daily driver. I hope that's what you've found Mr Wilks - certainly it looks great in the photo you've posted
