I'm very close to a move that way too, probably til next summer.
Googling with spanish keywords on google.es for long term accommodation, then looking around for agencies with offices in relevant towns tends to give you an idea of non-holiday rate accommodation.
do you work for a gambling / online gaming company? Know a fair few from Coral & the like are moving to Gib.

Got a slew of friends who have moved out there. Spread along the coast from Estepona to Fuengerola.
I visit that coast at least once a year and know it as well as my home town.
Biggest issue you'd face from a work in Gibraltor live in Spain is crossing the border daily. It can take an hour each way as the Spanish don't like to make it too easy.
There are some huge Brit communities in the hills on the Spanish side just back from the border, else you need to be up the coast to avoid the crappy industrial areas. don't expect anything cheap out there as the Euro is high and it's the land of the wealthy ex pat and holiday home.
