Any brick & mortar LED suppliers? (US)

I'm tired of getting crap off eBay and the like, esp low end stuff like lighting etc.

I'm looking for white LED's to replace my footwell lamps and licence plate bulbs...anyone know of any retail chains that sell this kind of stuff for racer boi 20ducks?

(I've been to Autozone...nada but amber or multicolor goofy junk.)
 
What's the difference between Xenon & LED? I don't mean chemically or mechanically, but rather how they look, their brightness, cost, longevity, etc.
 
Uh well the "Xenon Interior Kits" are actually just the standard halogen bulb but with blue glass rather then clear glass. The light shining through the blue glass is a whiter light then the yellow glow of a clear glass bulb.

LEDs are totally different technology and produce a brighter, lower wattage draw, low heat, lighting option. However their are advantages and disadvantages to both.

Interesting. How can they sell them as Xenons then? Isn't that false advertising?

What are the advantage & disadvantages to both?
 
Well "xenon" isn't really copyrighted by anyone. Xenon lighting is often confused with HID lighting. BMW uses Bi-Xenon to describe their low/high beam HID headlights.

Anyone is free to use the word Xenon it an element on the periodic table. What they mean by Xenon lighting is a lighting upgrade that changes the stock clear bulbs which produce a yellow light to the blue bulbs which produce a more white light (a.k.a xenon look)

The blue bulbs have been around for a long time, thousands of sellers sell blue glass versions of headlight bulbs to get a more "xenon" light. Of course the only real xenon match would be to upgrade to HIDs. Obviously we cant upgrade our interior bulbs to HID bulbs.

Advantages to the stock bulbs, brighter, Disadvantages to the stock bulbs, ugly color
Advantages to the blue bulbs, whiter color, Disadvantages, dimmer then stock bulbs
Advantages to LED bulbs, run at cooler temperatures, less current draw, any color you want, etc. Disadvantages, beam pattern is often times not as broad as halogen bulbs
