Hello
This is my first post.
Never thought I would own one of these cars. I was painting at a doctors mansion. Her husband had walked out on her five years ago for another woman. Being winter his Z4 was stored in the garage. She would not give it back to him. She drove it then the last year and a half it was just kept it the garage blocked in as she was sick. Unfortunately she passed away. Her husband came by to look at it. It would not start and after a boost it ran but not very well. Check engine light on. Scratched and filthy. Brakes rusty looking. Anyways I hear he wants to sell it. He wanted $5000. I offered $4500 Canadian dollars and he accepted. I now own a 2005 Toledo blue 2.5i roadster 5spd with matching hardtop (with cover) two sets of factory wheels. 106000 km light tan leather with wood like trim. 10 speaker hifi. Xenon headlamps,A/C,cruise.
Towed it home and started cleaning. (How can I remove spider webs and some dead spiders from inside the headlamps)Joined this forum and with reading the posts found the intake elbow boot was cracked. New hose and replaced the missing gas cap. Reset the check engine light (lean code) car started right up. There was a light rotational tick/scrape from the top of the front of the engine(chain inside I think) it went away after 5 min. The check engine light returned after using up the old fuel in the tank. P2273. This came on approx two cycles after highway driving with the low fuel light on. I could not erase the code.
Later the same day the check engine light went off after filling with new fuel 94. The car runs and pulls nice after servicing the seized r/f caliber piston.
The doctor had told my boss she had all the roof motors and brakes replaced before she stopped driving it.
After driving it I can appreciate your love of the Z4.
Any tips or advice please

Welcome to the forum. Car sounds great at that price and a nice little project - a steal!
My advice: keep acquiring vehicles in this manner! You'll make a fortune! :D

Welcome- car sounds nice and great to hear of a car being saved. (despite the sad circumstances that lead to it being sold) . The head lights have access panels on the rear that could help you get a hover in, alternatively the bumper would need to come off to allw you to remove the head high and shake them out. Post some pics of the car when you get a chance
