I agree with the above the same being the case for most linux distros that being the case I have heard of virus' on clients macs but no-where near the issue of Windows. Having just installed Windows 8 I can see that Microsoft are trying much harder to integrate everything including AV and as this is just a home theatre (and wifes facebook and ebay) machine I've just left it all completely as it shipped. Also as we all move toward pre-approved "apps" instead of random programs I can see this becoming less and less of a problem and really the only remaining threats will be spoof mail and spoof/false/hacked websites.
