Anti-Trapping Circuit

Hi All.

With the roof half open today I noticed that the lower of the two plastic components of the anti-trapping circuit on the left hand side was broken. Here's what it should look like:

The above was taken from TrickyDicky's post in this thread: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=50000 from 2013.

These very flimsy parts are intended to stop the hood fabric from getting trapped in the mechanism, so it seems like a good idea to replace the broken part. However, they now seem to have been discontinued. So I'm planning to design and 3D print a custom replacement - which will hopefully be stronger than the original. If I manage to do this successfully (it certainly looks straightforward enough!), would anyone else be interested?

Designed, printed and sorted!

Having examined the part and where it fits in more detail, the purpose of this part seems to be to prevent fingers being trapped in the mechanism - so it's well worth replacing to prevent any injury to my grandkids!

Great work.
Always satisfying to repair something with such proper, professional results.

If you are willing to share the model with us all that would be great.

No problem - I'll upload the lefthand and righthand versions to Thingiverse and will post the link here when that's done.

Now uploaded to Thingiverse:

Having just designed a replacement slide valve for the vacuum-operated wiper motor of a 1959 Ford Thunderbird belonging to a French friend, I'm now designing pods for aftermarket parking sensors to fit in the recess for the rear number plate, to avoid having to drill holes in the rear bumper! I'll share those too on a separate thread when I've finished.
