Another Z4C 3.0Si to Z4MC convert

So after a years ownership of my Z4C I've decided to make the move to an MC.

Does anyone know this car? Does it have any history with any owners here?

I'm looking forward to picking it up in the next week.

Excellent choice of a fantastic car.......

It was mine!

I'll knock together a few comments in the next half hour or so

If you are paying the full £26,850 you have been well and truly had! :? About £21K would be right....
The Z4MC prices have certainly gone up.

It was up at £28,850 to start off with.

Most of the history of that car is on here, but here are a few of my posts. Have a search through the forum for my posts if you want to check.

The day it went

The debate re: should I let it go

Spoiler repair

And finally

Some gratuitous pics!

The car itself is fantastic - I loved every second of owning it. The wheels are like brand new as I sold the CSL's and put a virtually new set of standard wheels back on. As you can see above, I had the front spoiler repaired just before selling the car. I caught the front on a high kerb a week after getting it (no other damage) and waited 2 years to have it repaired.

The mileage is totally genuine, and it has BMWFSH including the 1200 service (done at 1159 IIRC) and the first 2yr service (as I didn't do the mileage to need it doing any earlier). Both carried out at Sytner in Sheffield, where I bought it from. The car is March 09.

Things to look out for - when I sold it, I removed the LeatherZ armrest and it marked the carbon leather - I'm sure they'll have sorted it but just check the carbon leather by the handbrake. Also - and I've phoned them twice about this - tell them to remove my bloody number plate from the ad (my own reg!). They've had the car since 15th June, and it was up originally for £28,850. I'll be interested to see what it finally goes for and hope it goes soon as it does sort of upset me that its been sat there for 3 months without an owner!

Just reading back - have you actually bought it then?

I originally saw the car at £28K, then at £27K. We've agreed on a price which is a lot less than that but if I should have been paying £21K then I have been had. Never mind it's only money. My mate is looking for a similar Z4MC so if anyone wants to sell me a 14K 07 full specced Z4MC with BMW AUC status for £23K you'll be £2K up and everyone is happy.

I've looked at private cars and dealer cars, none had the colour scheme or all of the options that I wanted. This one had. Silver Grey and Imola Red is in my opinion the best colour combination and the only thing I would change are putting CSLs on and ditch the sun protection glass which my wife says makes me look like a drug dealer.

I delighted that I'm getting a car that has been loved by its original owner. I've bought the car sight unseen, trusting the dealer in his description, if it wasn't as described I can pull out but I doubt I will unless there were some serious reports here.

I wonder haw bad the leather wear is on the drivers bolster, how good was the spoiler repair and is there any other bad stone chips or dents?

I'm looking forward to picking the car up next week. Thanks for the posts so far.

Well pleased for you and look forward to hearing your thoughts. The leather wear wasn't bad just the usual catching of the seat on the way in and it shows more on red leather. I'm sure again they'll have sorted it.

The repair was excellent to be honest and if I'd not mentioned it you genuinely wouldn't know as it's virtually invisible. No other dinks for sure or stone chips either from what I can remember.

You've got a great car mate that's a certainty. Keep us posted and get them csl's!!

Oh and the price I'm sure will be fine and not ott. The prices have definitely increased although I think they've bottomed out now. The 21k quoted above - nah, as you say it's virtually fully loaded with full bmwsh from aain dealer with another 12 months warranty so a good deal no doubt

Happy to see your old Z4MC getting a new home Senwar .... :driving:

Hope your still enjoying the X5.
:D

There's quite a story there mate. X5 - only had it two weeks and now got a 120d m sport coupe. Chalk an cheese eh!

Hope the wheels are still looking good!

I am very tempted with CSLs and seeing Senwar's photos with the car on CSLs make it very tempting. Where is the best place to get them and how much should I budget for?

The number of good Z4s around is now diminishing. There's only a small number of Z4MCs to choose from and when you take out colours I don't like and options that I want and there are very few cars out there to choose from.

I very happy that Senwar enjoyed the car so much. I'm looking forward to enjoying it too.

Congratulations, I`m sure you will enjoy it. And no, £21k is not a fair value for the car especially not from a dealer and you probably wouldn`t even find a private sale at that price either, more like £23-24,000 privately.

You may find the M`s speed deceptive. It doesn`t always feel much faster than the 3.0 but when I look at the speedo I`m often surprised at how quickly the car has picked up the pace. The S54 is very free revving, just the other day I found I was bouncing off the rev limiter in 2nd because I had the windows open and the engiine wound up to 8000rpm in no time when I was overtaking a slow moving vehicle, it doesn`t sound raucous at high rpms as some cars do so I didn`t think it had revved that far up.

Enjoy, and post up your experiences

Congratulations. I've seen this car when Senwar had it and it's beautiful

Don't worry dear Lucy, Senwar likes his cars but is fast approaching fatherhood, when he will suddenly become poor (loss of second income) & need a people carrier. Then in his Mid- Forties he might be able to afford another sporst car. He will buy one then realise that he's wasted his money as being old & greying he has no attraction to the young girls anymore. At that stage he will buy an old Automatic Nissan Micra....

One of the advantages of never having been attractive is I won't feel I've wasted my money when I don't get any more attention with a piece of motoring exotica. The car is just for big fat old balding me.

I'm going down to view on Saturday as I can sort out anything that they'll need to look at before I collect it. Round trip of over 400 miles but worth it if they get it right first time.

Eh, are you trading your 3.0 litre in too? My mc is for sale on Pistonheads if you're not trading as i am looking for a clean sale. It's better specced, including the CSLs and several thousand pounds of other bits and pieces and has been mine from brand new. PM me if you're interested.

Wow, that is a great looking car that has clearly been loved and well looked after. The deal of got on Senwars car feels good but it doesn't have all the kit you have. I have committed to buy Senwars car and as long as it is as good as described by the top knotch sales guy, I will be going for it. If not, I might look at digging deeper as the CSLs alone would save me the hassle of change.

Anyone got a close up of the rear BMW rear spoiler? I`ve never seen one and can`t seem to spot it on the car in the pics

I went to view the car and it is a credit to Senwar. This is the best Z4 I've looked at - I love it. Sytners have agreed to attend to a couple of areas of deterioration that wasn't down to Senwar so I can't wait to collect it.

The Z4MC is what the Z4 should always have been. Don't get me wrong, my Z4C has been a great car but the M is so much better.

Considering the difference in price between what I'm getting for my Z4C and what I'm paying for the M - it is well worth it.

I've had one negative comment from my wife - she doesn't like the M badges. She's seen so many chavved up BMs with fake M badges and 4 exhausts that she now associates the M badge with drug dealers and chavs. We even saw a fake M5 on the way to view the car.

Should I take the M badges off? I'm really not bothered either way.
