Another Z4 Forum

Z4-forum is my home, it's the best site, easiet to use, and a friendly bunch of people.

I sometimes post on another couple of sites, but tonight I tried to reference z4-forum only to find the text substituted with blah-blah!.
Dont think I will be going back, there is room in the world for more than one forum, but not if that's there attitude.

I don't believe I have ever seen a link to another site edited on this board by anyone, I think that says it all really.

Can't understand why others do it TBH, but never mind. Like you say, this is your home :friends:

Yep, know how you feel! That is why this forum became my home. A big thanks to our Forum Admin, that this is such an open site, that is does not feel the need to obliterate links to other sites! There are many Z4 sites, but this is the only one that is dedicated to that vehicle.

i agree- the forum is great and open- i thank the mods and everyone on here for such an open and dedicated forum-will it stay this way whe the 'new' z4 comes or will we operate a mk1 and mk2 board?

Undecided at this point, especially since there is not a new Z4 available. May just divy up a separate section like we have with the //M 's, for specific questions :idunno:

I know Roadfly has an auto edit "feature" that blocks "competing" site names. Pretty silly.
We don't have "competing" web sites so no need for foolishness like that... :P

Well I like visiting this site and blah-blah!, I find there's room for lots of car forums. I try to spend my time equally on blah-blah! and Z4 forum.

I know on a game forum I was on for SWG, the mods had some censor type program that changed SOE (Sony Online Entertainment) to "the name of which we do not speak"
It was good fun, although using that sensor to block our website name is childish.
Hey we should go over there and completely fill up the first page of every thread with Blah-Blah!

i take them haters as people that love our place. so hey.. it's a compliment that they do it. they see us as a threat!

in any case.... this place is cool and i do not plan on even looking for another z4 site.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys, this site is (and will always be) free and open... references to other forums are fine here, I feel that helps related sites feed off each other... people will make up their own minds where they want to hang out :)

As for the Mk1 and Mk2 issue, like Ovrkll said we are still undecided. Closer to the time we will discuss it further. I know it works well on some forums, but then again not so well (IMHO) on others.

Pointless blocking other sites as people will find them anyway and if there is good information on another site I'd like to see it.

I used to have the same trouble between Landrover guys and Jeeps. They would remove the word 'Jeep' from posts. It was so bad that off road some Landie guys would turn away if seeing a Jeep, but it was always good fun to remind them that the first Landrovers were made out of converted Willys Jeeps abandoned in England...lol

Separate 2009 forum? I just see it as a sub section as the ///M is handled. Unless they becomes bores with their folding tin tops...

I do post links to other forums when we have meets, for the sole purpose of getting pics of the events available. This saves soo much time for me instead of doing the copy and paste for ever. I'm lazy.

Our group lives on 8 different forums. We have everything from Z1's to Z8's. I do most of my posting here and direct people here ( more traffic ) and this is the forum listed on my business cards. I do get PM's from other forums asking questions about the fact that I do post links to other forums. I then get to tell the story as to why I do this and always need to explain that by me posting the links, gives added value to the community on both sides of the fence. I have played the ZSCCA and world wide cards more times than I think is necessary, IMHO. I have never needed to do that here!!!!! :D

A few years ago I was kicked off a forum for posting links to other forums only to be e-mailed 5 months later saying that they would like to have me come back due to the fact their traffic in the Z area had dropped. I do post there every once and a while now , but not often. Everytime I do logon I hear crickets.

This site is the bomb , IMHO. A world wide forum of the greatest people on this planet. I really enjoy it when people come into town and give a shout that they are coming and want to get off the beaten path and contact me for a tour guide. The sharing of knowledge here is what I call free flowing. The information can be technicial, opinions ( no shortage of that here ) , or more geographical in nature. If someone has something to share they do. I they don't have anything to share , you can tell that they were interested in the thread, hence the fact the thread has been viewed 100 times and only 5 actual posts.

Long story shorter  . Thank you to all who are here !!

I too go to other forums. I do think they are good boards, but each board has it's 'own' character.
The sheer amount of postings on this site is 2X the amount of posting of three of those other sites combined....
It takes me a LOT longer to read through the new posts on this site, than to read through the posts on other boards..

Plus, the childish responses that you get most of the time when you post something that someone else does not agree with... which happens regularly on those 'other' boards.
While is DOES happen here, it happens very infrequently...

I frequented Roadfly from 2002 until a few months ago. Initially, it seemed a good place but littered with trolls. But, like Shipkiller says, you got childish responses from people that disagree with you.

I knew this forum was here and occasionally would drop in and take a look, but never joined. A few months ago, some guys there were jumping on Greg for little reason and it just kinda pissed me off; with their little activity, blocked links, no camaraderie; I just decided it was time to switch to the better forum despite my six years there. No regrets; this is a far far better place. Even their detailing forum had turned useless and I had switched to Detailers Club a couple years ago.

They always ignored putting in a lounge and all the other good aspects of this forum, despite requests from Greg and others to do so. After years neglect, they are just starting to rot away.

Just as a second thought. I feel that there are several groups that have actually met each other face to face here as well. I believe that this also makes the board more active as well. So many other forums the people are in so many different places and never meet face to face. If you ever get the people to come out to meets, they get hooked and come out more often and then post more.
