Another Update, BMW Pedestrian Protection System

I thought there was a camera in the car that tells you the speed limit. That must have been working at the time would that tell you if you hit something or not.

Just a random thought so feel free to scoff: does the system only work above a certain speed?
Is it possible that someone bumped into your car at very slow speed while it was parked, deforming the bumper enough to trigger the system but allowing it to pop back and look unscathed?
Then you drive off and when you reach the activation speed it goes bang.

As much as I would love to 'scoff', that is a plausible idea IMHO.
If that is what happened, then BMW's system needs a re-design and warranty being upheld without question.

If we are going to start agreeing I’m off! 🤣

I did damage the pedestrian sensor on my Jag IPace at low speed it did not set the bonnet lift off and the car drove normally.
The sensor itself was not especially expensive and fitted when they replaced the bumper, that was very expensive!.
