Another top problem

So I'm new to the forum but not the car. The top motor went out a year ago so my dad and I fixed it and then rigged it so that no water could get in (drilling holes, caulking, etc), so there is NOT any water in there. It worked fine but now it just unlatches from the frame and doesn't go down. I can hear the motor running and even hear fluid moving behind my right ear. The top is also very easy to put down by hand. Before it took both me and my dad to get it down, now I just put it down really easy. The microswitch is good, I tested it. My current thought is maybe something came loose? Like I said the top is easy to put down and it wasn't before. I'm very handy with tools, put an engine in my Porsche so all the work will be done myself. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

If you can hear fluid I wonder if you've got a ruptured pipe? I don't hear anything like that when mine operates

Tapatalking...

Not sure about you being able to hear fluid pumping? If the main motor/pump is working and you have no resistance when moving it, that surely suggests a leak or the bypass is activated?

Or ........ Just a thought, I'm not sure on the sequencing but doesn't the main motor/pump only kick in AFTER the roof has fully disengaged from from the screen top rail, and the fly-out catches/micro switches have operated correctly? A couple of years ago my roof would disengage but not lower, I lubricated those fly-out catches (and all the roof hinges) and it's worked fine ever since.

the leak doesn't sound like its near the motor, more towards the middle or right of the car. How many hoses/pipes are there for this top??

4 tubes, a pair each from the pump/motor to the actuator on either side.
