Another squealling topic

My Z4 (5 speed manual) makes a high pitched squeal (similar to alternator pulley or belt whine) under light to moderate acceleration. The noise is loudest in the morning. It seems to get louder as engine/transmission speed increases. It occurs in all gears and only when the clutch is engaged (neutral or clutch disengaged and revving the engine results in no squeal). It does not occur under very light or heavy acceleration and feathering the gas pedal will vary the pitch level.

Any ideas?
Could it possibly be the release bearing? In my experience the release bearing usually make noise when disengaging the clutch when it starts to fail.

After chasing gremlins for months, I may have solved my own problem. While I was under the hood replacing the cowl cover (the Hawaii sun has done a number on the original), I noticed this:

How I never noticed this I don't know. Maybe it was a whistling vice a squeal. I will have to replace it either way but here is to hoping that the noise is gone on my drive in to work in the morning. Now the only question is whether to order a new Genuine BMW Fuel Preperation Rubber Boot from on line and wait for the snail mail or attempt to source from the local stealer (and still wait for the slow boat).

its pretty normal for the two induction hoses to perish over time especially the one you pointed out and yes it does give off a whistle when accelerating
