Another Roof Problem

Roof won’t open. It unlatches but won’t go any further.

Get red flashing light. Checked parcel shelf position.

Basic code reader states control button short circuit when open and close .

Is this likely to be the motor or wiring issue ?
 
Is motor relocated? Classic signs of water logging first but could also be a loom/sensor failure?

You could dive in and find a problem with the loom, but if the motor hasn't been moved yet then you may as well start with that.
 
The motor isn't relocated. I was just trying to rule out any easier other reasons for the short circuit on the button code

It's not so difficult to relocate. Just get a decent set of pullers as the plastic casing for mine was stuck in with two cable ties and needed a lot of effort pulling out.
 
Thanks Guys. I’ll get RBM to relocate the motor. Just wanted to check anything else that might have thrown up that fault code rather the dodgy motor

There's a chance it is the loom tbh, but until you get that motor out and check you won't be sure.
 
When unlatches, do you hear the motor or nothing? Just unlatches?

Did you try to dangle the wires? On my LHD Z4 it is above my driving seat, so in your case, it can be above the co-driver seat. The wires can have breaks and lose connection, I have this problem and I still didn't tackle it, I just dangle the wires and it starts working.
