Another roof problem...

Hi all,

Another roof problem here. When I push the 'roof down' button, the windows wind down, but then nothing happens. Roof doesn't want to move. What's the best way to identify the problem? Buying some kind of OBD tool to get the error codes?

Thanks!

is your roof motor relocated or is it still sat in its original location?

very likely if not its sat in water

All is not lost as they can be moved and revived- where are you based?

I assume if he’s posted in the E89 section he’s got an E89?

You need a decent BMW specific OBD reader..it will most likely flag up one of a small number of codes and from there you can be advised

Thanks - if it's not against forum rules, do you have any specific ones you can recommend? Obviously there's Carly, but would the £10 unbranded amazon jobbie that says 'compatible with BMW' give me the same results ?

If you plan on keeping your E89 for any period of time I would recommend Bimmergeeks Protool…it’s undoubtedly the best non PC tool for E89s and it’s a one off licence fee..tech support from them is great too
