Another Roof Issue, Sorry!!

Glad you made progress. It can be something of a yearly tweak. The rubber parts that adjust and fit in the the V grooves in the clamshell tend to move, they're not that well fixed and if you over extend them to make a better fit (as I did) the slamming down of the roof weight tends to bang them down out of adjustment again over time. Not a great solution. Like you, mine are topped with felt. It stops that final clunk and makes it a nice soft whump sound when the roof finally closes.

I've got a bit of an on off plastic ticking noise from the boot deck/inside the boot somewhere. I'll be spraying a bit of lube about, ooer, weather permitting.

Yes now I have cured all my rattles just one little sound that seems to come from behind the rear roof trim, in the rear left corner which is set off by very bumpy roads. Sounds like a length of wire tapping against something.

Yep that sounds like the noise I have, a thin click or tap noise. I'll find the begger..

Sorted the knocking noise, now I hear the sqeaking of the rollovers, more felt on order!! Now to find out what BMW use as the official grease for the mechanism, but of the two dealers I've called, both claim not to sell it or know who makes it

Interestingly I thought I'd remove the storage in the bulkhead today (the little door, shelfy thing) as you can remove it to load long items into the car, not that I've ever done that. I thought I'd remove it wondering if some of these clicky tappy noises were in the boot but travelling up through the deck/rear shelf. No, quiet as a mouse in the boot itself so its definitely the rear deck making the noises. Gives me something to do when the weather warms up anyhow ;)
