another rear light cluster topic

As being a newbie to the Zed forum I was reading about condensation in the rear lights, to cut along story short I took mine back today to have them changed. Waited about an hour then was told "been on to BMW we haven't changed your lights due to a recall coming out on all E89 Zeds we have to change your lights to a total different re-modeled back, and to put a load of new parts on behind the cluster". The lights will be the same on the outside. The job time is three hours for both, going back next Friday.

Don't know if this is of any help to other E89 drivers out in Zed land.

Still love my Zed in " Recession colour, recession engined e89"(taken from another topic)

I don't know who said that about your car

The light topic seems so varied. Topics on recall, some denying issues, some paying, some getting replacements foc.

I'm on my third set. These however had some form of sealing kit applied (around a year ago) and I've got no condensation in my lights now at all.

I will let u all know on Friday when I dip the rear into a pond  , think a little mark some place to see what gets changed ie bit of a mark on a bolt etc  must by careful as I don't want the mark to be to noticeable on my Recession colour

Blimey, i can get a light out in five minutes. What are they doing, re-wiring the clusters! Someone at the dealers spinning it out.

If there is a recall imminent did they say what years affected? Have to say I haven't suffered any codensation or water ingress issues, snow foamed washed the Zed yesterday and its stood out in the rain this past week and seems fine, I'd rather not have any work done if its not necessary.

Tim.

The car that caught my eye that lead me to buy one, that parks on a local car park, a 09 plate, i drove past it today, its tail lights, both sides, are all misted up with condensation.

Didn't say just said both lights will be done. Nothing wrong with n/s, unless the dealer is playing it safe.
