Tomorrow is officially dash cutting day That will take me past the point of no return with the project....

Thanks. I am documenting as best as I can, so will do some instructions.

At the moment, every time I fix one isuse, I seem to come across more issues

Due to some of the complexities involved, you might be wise to sell 'kits' of sorts, ready set up Arduino boards etc so people can almost just assemble and use it.

Interesting idea, but I am not really doing this as a commercial venture, I am afraid. I do plan to post some instructions and would be happy to help people out if they get stuck. If there was enough demand for it, I might consider doing something, but I would imagine this is pretty niche.

Given the plethora of s**t screens in modern cars that look like the designers forgot they might be needed and glued an iPad to the dash, I reckon a nice folding screen would be in demand. You wouldn't have to design it to drill into the dash, but a well designed housing could look cool.

In fact (registers idea) the E89 cubby on the dash would be a great location if something was designed around the existing lid so as the lid opened, up popped the screen.

Where's Stark? He's a designer with more than a little talent...

I am surprised such a thing doesn't already exist. Sadly, I think it's probably an indication that it's a really niche market!

The E89 looses the cubby if you have nav, as does the E87 1 series I have.

That's my point, a cool kit for those E89 owners with no built in who'd like something better than the Garmin offering.
