Another problem :( Anyone know what this noise is? (with video)

Seems like I've had nothing but issues with my beloved Zed lately.

I got home from work last week and didn't turn the car off right away because I was on the phone. Suddenly the engine started making a strange noise. It now does it every time the engine is idle, providing it's been warmed up. It doesn't do it from a cold start. It's only recently been serviced so the engine oil should be fresh.

Anyone heard this before? It doesn't seem to be affecting performance. I was running late to work this morning and had the foot down a few times, she still feels quick and there's no hesitation.

 that don't sound well at all
Actually sounds like 2 different noises but could be related ?
Drive belt / alternator pulley ?
Have you tried a little spray of WD on the shaft just to see if the noise alters or even disappears ? Then look to replace ?
I'd be getting a professional opinion before thrashing it any more though

I was hoping no one would say something like that.... although that's my thoughts exactly.

I think this car hates me! I get one problem fixed and then another one starts :x

I'll definitely get it looked at but was hoping someone would bring me some Christmas cheer and say that it's nothing to worry about :D I'll try a bit of WD on it when I get home.

Yep, could be the serpentine tensioner pulley (or alternator etc) as mr Wilks suggests a squirt on the bearings May quieten things down & you will know the culprit to replace then
Regards

Remove under tray and run engine see if you can pin point the noise. Sounds like something driven off the aux belt as above

Thanks for the tips guys. Hopefully get out of work tomorrow before it gets dark and I'll have a listen underneath and get a bit of WD out, see if the noise lessens

Its likely to be the tensioner bearing. or the other one. only way to tell is to de-tension the belt and spin the bearing. any attempt to lubricate with be futile.

is think all of the above comments are about the sound that occurs less often i.e. the non-ticky one.

what was the ticky sound?
