Hi all, I am kind of calling out to any of you with experience of PAS issues with your E89's.
My wife's 2.0i (2016 - 77k miles) has a PAS fault whereby the the power steering cuts out and snatches the wheel out of your hand. This only happens when you turn the steering wheel to the left toward full lock. It immediately corrects when the ignition is switched off and back on again. Has anyone experienced this specifically? Ring any bells?
I have had no battery warnings, however, the battery is the original from 2016. I am hoping that changing this will sort it, but I know that is unlikely.
I measured the voltage on the battery and got the following:
no ignition 12.11v / 12.29v after charging
ignition + headunit 12.07v / 12.17v after charging
ign + headunit + heated rear window + lights + max fan 11.72v / 11.87v after charging.
Running at idle 14.9vb
I don't know if that looks normal or like a battery that could do with replacing?
I have a basic code reader but it has displayed no faults. Should I be having a go with Carly or another recommended software? Please recommend.
I have also read about people re 'zeroing' there steering. Could this help? How would I achieve that?
Ultimately I think it is destined for a a visit to the ECUrepair guys that have been used by several members here.
Please chime in. My wife is now refusing to drive the car and as you can imagine the level of ear ache I am getting is increasing rapidly!
Thanks
