Just picked up a 2007 2.5si last week. Sorry, my wife has - keep forgetting! I was running a kit car until recently - a Marlin Sportster, with BMW M30 engine. Really quick, and a fun drive, but no mod cons. Final straw was when I took it to the Picos in Spain last year. Fantastic roads, but it rained...and rained,,,and rained. No windscreen, no hood - I was pemanently soaked.

So the Z4 is a different beast altogether, but so far I love it. Black, two-tone black/white leather, heated seats, all mod cons. Hope to do some touring, France, etc. Main car is a 535D, which is brilliant, and a fair bit quicker than the Z4 in a straight line, but a much more 'isolated' drive. Will run them both for a while and see if the novelty of zed wears off. Will be disappointed if it does.

Hello and welcome. Same route as me...kit car - Z4 natural progression or a sign of old age creeping up :?

Thanks. Have been reading the manual and the various forums to understabnd what the car does and doesn't do. Am used to BMWs, butthey all seem to have their own quirks. For example, this is the first one I've had where you couldn't set the doors to auto-lock, of the flashers to flash 3 times, without taking it into a dealer. Why? Also, on previous BMWs I could close the windows with the key fob. Don;t seem to be able to to it with this.

I have the sat nav and bluetooth, but no CD changer or Ipod connection, so am wondering what's the best (and not too expensive) way of improving this. Just a USB port would do, to play from memory stick, but not sure if this can be added as an aftermarket. EBay do Ipod connection cables for around 50 quid, which should be easy to fit, but not sure what functionality they give.

Then there's the Intravee I keep reading about. Seems expensive, but would it be better that the £50 cable. Any views?

Run flats will have to go - I've had them on other BMWs and they always tram-line. Awful invention. Lots of miles left in the tyres, thiough, so will live with it for a while. Just put two rears on the 5 which cost me over £400.

With such a limited bootspace I don't want to carry a spare - what's the best option? Some sort of canned repair foam? Or RAC membership!

Welcome along! As no one else has mentioned it yet... :worthless:

We'd be very happy to see pics of your 535d too... Or at least I would anyway

Thanks mrlozzer. I can take pictures, but as the Z4 and 535 are both 'standard' cars, not sure why anyone would want to see them!

Interesting spec of your car - but no idea what half of it means! Maybe it's Z4 talk?

Welcome to the forum - as said, pics are obligatory :D

I have non-run-flats on mine, carry a couple of cans of Holts and a cigarette klighter powered compressor. I have also heard that Slime is a good choice.

If you are near a forum member who has the coding software and cable then I am sure they'd be happy to help you out with the programmable items you want

Coding software and cable ? Sounds like a good idea, didn't know you could get this. I'm in Derbyshire - How do I find out where others are located?

Took a couple of pictures last night - how do i add them?
You have to upload your photos to a hosting site, such as Photobucket (which is free)...

Each photo then has an IMG tag. Copy and paste it into your post, highlight the code then press the IMG button. That will add tags around your code so we can all see your photo! It's simple once you've done it once!

Thanks - would be easier if I could just drag and drop, but no doubt there's a good reason for it. So, here are a few photos:

Firstly, the Z4 next to my 535D. A dull day, sadly, so not the best photo.

And here are a couple of my kit car, which the Z4 replaces. BMW 'big block' M30 engine.
