Hi All,
Another newbie added to the forum!
Having had a keen interest in motoring from a young age, I have always wanted to get my hands on an exciting car for the weekend. With the constant drive towards electrification of road-going vehicles (of which I'm not opposed to!), I wanted to get something from the era of the ICE that would stand the test of time. It had to have a manual transmission, ideally rear wheel drive and a noteworthy engine. To me, the Z4 ticked a lot of the boxes and most importantly, was within my budget.
A couple of weeks ago, I managed to (locally) bag myself an E85 30.si with a manual transmission with full service history and an almost faultless MOT history to date! The roof was replaced only a couple of years ago and has recently been re-protected. The motor has also been relocated to the boot and carefully masked with a similar fabric to the boot lining, so is almost indistinguishable from the rest of the inside of the boot.
The car itself is near unmolested, with the only changes I can see being an aftermarket stereo fitted (although the previous owner has supplied the OEM stereo with the car), what looks like an aftermarket gear knob (again, the previous owner has supplied the OEM gear knob), a small amplifier fitted in the boot, the foam has been removed from the sound generator pipe (and again, the previous owner has supplied the original foam should I want to refit) and 3 series M Sport alloy wheels(?), which I think actually suit the car pretty well.
There are the usual age related marks (mainly stone chips), and it looks like one of the lights in the front bumper are letting in moisture, but all in all I think it's in great condition.
As I said, I wanted something that would stand the test of time, so the intention is to keep this car for as long as possible. I would like ensure the car remains as close to standard as I can in terms of appearance, so I think things like the alloy wheels will be changed down the line amongst other tasks. As they say, a project car is never complete!
Anyway, let me know your thoughts and I look forward to meeting some of you when get togethers are possible again!
