Evening all,

Just purchased a Z4 Coupe which was the previous car of a guy off the forum who now has a stunning M2 Comp.

Having had a few Porks, Beemers etc I was going down the route of hot hatch as I needed a bit of a stop gap car that I could have a bit of fun in. But in the end you can't ignore the urge to get back in a BMW straight six so here I am.

Must say I'm really glad I chose the Z4. There's a few things on the list to sort out including what I think is a valve cover gasket leak but for a car that's done 119k it's so tight and responsive to drive. Really impressed.

I'm lucky enough to live right on top of the English/mid Wales border and have some amazing roads right on my doorstep so when it stops bloody raining I'll be getting out and about.

So far the forum seems pretty friendly compared with others. Looking forward to participating/contributing.

Cheers

Welcome! Seems to be lots of people jumping back into Z4’s in the last couple of weeks.
Looks like,a good, clean example.

Welcome to the forum, not Mr Tidy's old car is it ?
This is a very friendly place with loads of helpful info, we are having a breakfast meet at the AV8 cafe, near Cirencester, if you fancy a drive out.

Welcome Howie, a leaking cam cover gasket is the norm on these by now with age & miles so not a major downer.
Great cars to own the Si coupe , enjoy it

Hi and welcome aboard from a serial Coupe owner!

And that isn't one of my former cars - as far as I know my Ruby Black one is still with the forum member who bought it.

Shame about the cam-cover leak although as has been said it isn't unusual on the N52 engine. Luckily my 330i had just had a new gasket fitted when I bought it on 107K last year, although it is leaking from the oil filter housing which is another common issue.

Anyway it's good to hear you are enjoying yours, and I hope it stops raining for you. :driving:

Welcome to the boards Howie, always worth checking the ccv isn’t blocked as this can cause gasket leaks/oil burning issues by increasing crankcase compression :?

Welcome to the forum - my old car!

Hope you have as many happy memories from it as I did - here she is on the Snowdonia coast last year - you're lucky to be in the door step of some of the best driving roads in the UK!

Sorry guys. I have been very busy recently and usually I get an email when someone replies
to posts and I honestly thought nobody had replied to my original post.

It's a bit late but thank you all for your welcome posts! Hope you are all well.

I've had an oil change and the valve cover gasket sorted now. It's now ready for
a road trip with some friends coming up from London. This includes an Aston DB9,
996C4S, Lotus Elise and a M135i. Plenty of firepower there so be interesting to see how the
Zed holds up....or more like keeps up! Really enjoying the ownership experience so far though.
They are great cars.

Anyone been on any road trips?

Great pic of the motor. Looks like she got plenty of use under your ownership. Hopefully the M2 is living up to expectation?

Nice pic.....

Good to hear you got the oil leak sorted Howie.

Your road trip sounds like it will be great, and on public roads I wouldn't have thought you'd have a problem keeping up.

I haven't done any yet, but some mates are in the planning stages for one next year in Wales - looking forward to that!

We're all sensible chaps so I guess we'll be just cruising mainly anyway. It's been busy up here this summer for obvious reasons so they'll be plenty of traffic. We did France the year before on Le Mans weekend. We went in the opposite direction and the roads were empty! Hopefully when you guys do Wales next year it'll be a bit quieter.

How do you find your M Coupe? That engine is a real masterpiece.

I'm loving it, but given what has happened this year I haven't used it as much as I had hoped. :(

Still the N52 in the 3.0Si is also pretty fantastic so I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

We're planning to do our trip in May, so hopefully roads won't be too busy even if the weather may not be fantastic!
