Hi all, posted in the buying/selling forum yesterday and thought I'd say hello whilst waiting for the right zed to turn up!

Currently driving a Mini Cooper s (will post pics if anyone's interested, keeping with the forum rules and all that!) and can't wait to get my first proper Beemer.

Anyway, wouldn't mind a drive out once I get one if anyone's around near Lincoln

Cheers

Luke :driving:

Welcome , I think you will find this forum a wealth of info and also great help in finding the right Zed.

Thanks guys, already learnt a lot by reading the guides on here, very helpful!

I'm ideally looking for a 2.5 or 3.0, 05 plate onwards for around 6k that hasn't been half way to the moon! Not rushing into anything, want to wait and get a good one

Welcome, wasn't long ago when I was in your boat. Waited a good 3 months on the right one. Just keep an eye out and be fast, they don't stick around that long.

Welcome! I hope you have something nice appear soon. Still early enough in the year / bad enough weather to get a good deal.

Cheers everyone :D yeah I've realised they don't hang around for long but hopefully I'll be in one before spring. Not a bad time to be buying I'd have thought?

Just sold my Cooper S to move back to a Z4, Coupe this time, did the roadster a couple of years ago, enjoy the search

This is the time of year everyone's looking to make a jump on the market, lots out there so good luck

How did you find the cooper compared to the z4? Up until last week I was dead set on getting an fn2 civic type r but I test drove one and was massively underwhelmed by it. I love the pull of the supercharger in the mini but I reckon a 3.0 z4 would be more than sufficient to replace it :D

Totally different car, I found that you really had to work the Mini to get the best out of it but on a back road cruise it went exactly where you pointed it. The Z has more power ready and waiting so responds quicker but the ride takes a bit of getting used to, it can be a bit crashy but ditching the RFT helps with that, once you get a feel for the car and the length of the Bonnet it's a great car to drive, more refined than the Mini and you don't need to beat it with a stick to make it go!

Good stuff, sounds about right about the mini although I do enjoy the low down torque. That's what I didn't like about the type r, no torque or power and then obviously the VTEC kicked in. It was fairly quick but it's not for me. Sounds like the 3.0 is exactly what i'm after though, can't wait!
