Ladies, Gentlemen…

I wanted to introduce myself with a big “Hello”…

After searching the internet for a good Z4 forum, just early last month I happen to find this site. I have just been browsing and reading through the various posted threads. Overall, this site has been most informative, interesting and entertaining. I have also viewed the many posted Z4 pictures, and all of you have “AWESOME” cars. Though the Z4 is somewhat our universal ground, I have seen much individual personality in each and every car.

Anyways, here is my brief story which led me to Z4 ownership…

I am a native Californian, born and raised in San Diego. My son, whom is an avid sports car enthusiast and he being a Honda S2K & Lotus Elise owner, last year he was persistent towards trying to persuade me to consider purchasing a Z4M. I was somewhat doubtful with the whole matter, because the vehicle was only a 2-seater and we already too many cars at the house etc., etc. However, during one weekend of no football on TV, and my son being bored, he came by the house and wanted for me to accompany him at test driving both the Z4 M Coupe and a 3.0 Roadster, so we did. After the test drive, I was convinced and the rest became history. For me personally, the Z4 is certainly well balanced in performance, and handling, with an appearance that is most definitely unique.

Now comes time for the purchasing. Initially, the Mrs. had made an Executive Decision, with a “big negative” on the purchase. Questions of a mid-life crisis had arisen, etc., etc. LOL. Anyways, I later managed to construct and negotiate certain provisions with my wife for my Z4 purchase. Ultimately, I was successful and got the go ahead, everybody was happy, and I went on a mission.

After several weeks of searching I was able to locate a Z4 that fit me personally in its color, factory installed options, and price. The vehicle that I had found was a dealer owned and maintained 2004 Sterling Metallic Gray 2.5i w/ SMG, under warranty and in pristine condition. After driving the Z4M, I thought that I was not going to be satisfied. Anyways, after test driving the 2.5i, and as my son had put it, the SMG Motor, still has some “BALLS”. Furthermore, I am no “speed racer” either, and I knew that the car suited me just perfectly.

I have had the vehicle for over 3 months now, and it has been especially a great weekend warrior for me. Lately, I have just cruised with my son along coastal highways, and hopefully later on we plan to embark on some spirited driving in the mountains here in San Diego.

All in all, I look forward to becoming an active forum member. Time permitting, I will take some pictures and post them…

Once again, a big “Hello”

Welcome to the Forum! Yep, I too, know about the "negotiation" and "mid-life crisis" bits (isn't that what the //M stands for?).

Welcome. Yet another Californian.

I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Bob Bartel and I am the ZSCCA (Z Series Car Club of America) Area Rep for Southern California. I network with several local clubs in SoCal. If we were ever to all get together at the same time, there would be 85 or so cars. This is my main forum for posting meets and events. Please join in and meet other like minded Z people. :driving:
